If you had a mac I'd get the 001. For Pc you can get N-tracks and a good sound card for less then the 001. I like pro tools in general. Yes it seems like alot to invest in but if you look at all you get its very small for the amount of cool shite you can do.
If a client need anything mastered, I'm recomending sending it to Sjoko2 over any other place. A local place here does great work but are booked quite far in advance. mixmkr, you seem to be fighting a loosing battle. You got a great deal and you are bitching about it. Beggers can't be choosers...
Take AC/DC for instance, they don't use near as much distortion as you'd think. That goes for all effects. Get it where you want it and cut it back a couple of notches.
Seems like you are in a rush, did you let him know? $225 for reputable mastering services isn't bad AT ALL!! There is one decent place here in Colorado thats booked pretty far in advance, think about all the home recers that sent hims stuff.
That's going to feedback I think. Why? If you are micing a pa/room in which the drums are being sent to the pa, the mic you used to pick up the pa will intern pick up the signal in which it miced causing it feedback. Does that make scence?
Radio shack has a mic that looks just like a 58 for $19.99:eek:    There is nothing like the 58, much like there is nothing like a neumann. If you want a 58 buy the 58! It will save $$$ in the long run!
It's a toy, sounds harsh, same quality level as the 3630
Check ebay, the have some for much less than you.

I disagree
What's your price range? If you spend enough you can get a small format SSL! I dig the Soundcraft spirit stuff. Beats the Mackie, IMHO. YMMV!
I have no time because all of my spare time is spent trying to get more free time! Seriously, I'm sooooooooooooo close to being able to engineer as my main source of income. So I'm working 8-5 then running sound till 2 am! Rock and Roll baby!
