cassette multitracking & powered vs passive mixers

thanks very much. so I guess I just need to look out for mixers that explicitly say "powered" or "mixer/amplifier?"

cassette multitracking & powered vs passive mixers

hi vp. I am not really sure what I mean. my understanding is that there are some mixers that I should NOT use because the voltage will burn out my cassette decks. I guess these are mixers that are designed for us with unpowered monitors etc. so I'm trying to clear that up. glad to hear you had a...

cassette multitracking & powered vs passive mixers

I recently got a Vestax MR66 (a 6-track cassette multitracker with no EQ) and need to get a small -- cheap! -- 6-channel mixer for EQ / mix finalization. I'm thinking of getting a Yamaha RM602. I'll be working with a parametric as well so mixer features aren't really important to me -- just need...

WTB: Tascam PE40 or similar parametric eq

last time i checked ebay prices are not representative of what things are worth! for example there are ashly sc66s up on ebay for $800! too bad you don't want to let go of yours... i'd give you $200 for it!

parametric eq -- Furman vs Ashly vs ????

thanks everyone. now I'm thinking maybe Tascam PE40 or a Rane as they seem to go cheaper than the Ashly & Furmans and people generally seem to like em. high end stuff like Orbans seems great but is totally outside of my price range and home recording needs.

parametric eq -- Furman vs Ashly vs ????

Massive Master -- thanks for the advice. I've looked into Orbans and they seem great but I will probably never be able to afford one in my whole life!

parametric eq -- Furman vs Ashly vs ????

oh yeah, and if you've got something to sell on the reasonable side, let me know -- I'd rather do business with yall than the anonymous ebay empire.

parametric eq -- Furman vs Ashly vs ????

I'm looking to get a good stereo parametric eq. I'll mainly be using it for mixdown and notching and recording leads. I know I like Ashly stuff but after hawking ebay for a while it seems like Furmans run cheaper. is it crazy to drop 250 on an Ashly parametric? are Furman's parametrics...

WTB: decent single channel compressor for vocals & bass. recommendations welcome too!

thanks! does it beef up bass a little bit? I'm looking for something that doesn't add noise but will fatten my bass semi-noticeably. think that's why I like the Ashly.

WTB: decent single channel compressor for vocals & bass. recommendations welcome too!

WTB: decent single channel compressor for vocals & bass. recommendations welcome too! my only compressor, a DBX 166a, crapped out on me. I liked it OK, definitely was preferable to no compression on vocals, but I thought it was a little noisy and not as full sounding as an Ashly SC55 (I've...

    Yamaha MT8X play/rewind/stop buttons

The buttons on the Yamaha MT8X are connected to the unit by pieces of hard plastic that link the big button to a tiny internal button. If you use the buttons enough these little plastic bridges will snap. Unfortunately it seems like the entire unit needs to be disassembled to gain access to the...

punch-in records a click on my yamaha mt8x 8 track

just got an mt8x. it's great, but when I punch in there is an audible click almost all the time. the click is not very loud, but it is jarring enough to make the punch-in sound obvious. I like to build recordings by punching in on multiple tracks, so this makes for a mess. is there a component...
