I'm looking to buy some rigid fibreglass in the UK but "rigid fibreglass" seems to mean something else over here if you put it into search engines.
Has anyone located a cheap source over here?
Hey, I wrote and recorded the music. Woohoo. Not that I've got the money yet but It's a proud moment in a newbie's career.
Also, watch out for the new Vinnie Jones movie "Hollywood Flies", I wrote/recorded music for that too.
I'm not showing off by the way, I'm just drunk and pleased with...
Hmm. I'm torn between Harvey "the don" Gerst's "miking" and "mic'ing".
What a nightmare. As soon as this subject is sorted I can go on to annoy everyone and ask what "omni" and "phase" means. ;)
I've seen mic'ed too. It sort of makes sense but it looks awkward. I wish English wasn't such a difficult language.
Just take Leicester or recipe for example. They make no sense whatsoever.
I've got an old D12. I love it. I haven't used many other kick mics to be honest but I love the vintage look of it as well as the sound. :)
Plus, it was the first "proper" mic I got so I'm rather attached to it.
I guess it depends on what sort of sound you want. I usually record guitars with an SM57 touching the grill of the amp pointing somewhere between the middle and outside of the cone. That will give you a real upfront modern metal guitar sound.
Well that clears everything up then. :D
I have to agree Harvey, micing doesn't look right but to me miking just feels wrong. I'll have to pose this question to some Oxford Uni English students or something.
So would you use a wide diaphragm condenser on a mouse?
I know this isn't really important but when I put a mic on something what am I doing? micing, mikeing miking mic-ing, mic'ing etc?
May as well get it out of the way now, then I can post without blushing. ;)
Connect the soundcard to the "tape in/out" on your mixer.
Connect the "control room out" of your mixer to your hi fi - Which obviously you don't want on when you are recording.
Connect your headphones to the mixer's headphones socket.
I would have put the mic into the pre-amp then the mixer then had an output of the mixer to the soundcard. That way you can monitor from the mixer via headphones.
The computer should be acting as a tape recorder connected to the mixer.
