    Shure SM7 or Sennheiser MD421?

It looks like they're both pretty much the same price, and I've heard great things about both of them. I guess the only real deciding factor is which one is gonna sound better on "screamy" vocals (I record a lot of metal and hardcore bands from around here). I understand that one will probably...

Question for all you obscure Marshall Amp gurus

MG is completely solid state as far as I know. Are you sure your friend isn't calling a regular old "2x12" combo "stereo" because there are two speakers in it? Probably.

    tracking without preamp??

you've got a firepod (so do i), forget your board, the firepods got 8 very usable pres built in, probably better than your boards (unless you've got a really good one), just go mic>XLR cable>firepod>computer. if you really wanna use the pres in your board, you'd go into the channel 1 and 2 INs...

    Getting rid of Picking sound

no, but sloppy playing makes a mess of sound, if you can play it tight, you'll hear the part and not the "pick" sounds, or the "string" sounds or "whatever. there's always gonnna be something of course, just play around it or do something to avoid it.

    Getting rid of Picking sound

if you're getting a lot of bad pick noise from an amp (distorted, i assume?), you probably need to work on your picking technique

    Punch-In Recording & Blankets?

try some more. if you can't scoop ENOUGH on a mark iv you're either doing something wrong or you're an idiot (no offense), get new tubes, get a new cab with new speakers, get a better or different guitar, do something, because the mark iv is the most versatile and can be one of the best sounding...

Firepod - "safely remove hardware" question

Windows has enough issues, I disable my Firepod there before turning it off to not possibly give it another one, haha

    Weak Response from SM57 : (

Don't use a 1/4'' cable. Get an XLR. For some reason I'm absolutely positive that's what's happening.
