kjam22, thanks for listening! i find distorted guitars to be hard to play and track properly, especially for more rhythmic songs. i can't seem to get it to sit in the mix properly without it turning to sludge, especially with organ parts going on. so i decided to just stick with clean sounds...

Are you tracking an entire band? More importantly, are you tracking live drums? If so, then the M-Box won't cut it as it's only 2 inputs I believe. Since you don't need another control surface, I'd go for the 002 rackmount (around $1,200-1,300 online) - which has better mic pres and converters...

I'm sure there are more scientific ways to describe it, but I tend to think of them as adjectives as follows: 60 Hz - Sub-bass harmonics 125 Hz - Thud 250 Hz - Boom, or mud/sludge (good or bad) 500 Hz - Honk 1 KHz - Whack, Thwack 2 Khz - Crack 4 Khz - Bite 6 Khz - Presence 8 Khz - Szzzibilance...

Thanks for the feedback and glad you like it. I'll re-mix it and do some re-tracking in the near future. Funny thing you mentioned that it was too in your face - I felt the vocals sounded like they were behind a windscreen and need more presence but I'm having trouble getting the balance right...
