For you pros out there ! I am recording a Guild JF 30 archback This guitar has quite a bit of bass to it. At what distance should I place the microphone (Shure SM58) in front of the strings? Do I need a pick-up on this guitar and record via an amplifier? Help!

I own a 424 MK III and a 414. Are there "internal" effects on these machines?? Or do they just have the capability to use external "pedals"?? If they are internal, how do you use them??? My manual is not clear and I get no help from TEAC.
