CWPA 9 - the dropouts that should not be?

Update on my part: I have discovered that the dropouts are random after all, but that doesn't make it any less strange. They don't happen very often, and when they do, restarting Cakewalk is usually enough for me... still annoying though, as I too have configured my PC for optimum performance...

CWPA 9 - the dropouts that should not be?

Hey all, I'm still a relatively new CWPA 9 user, only having run it for a month or so. It has worked nicely so far, but I bumped into a strange thing recently. One, and only one, of my .wrk projects seems to get hard drive dropouts every time I try to play it. Since it's only 8 mono 24/48...

recommend a bass for R&B, Reggae

I've seen some Yamaha TRB-5P's (the now discontinued alder-bodied, piezo-equipped ones) on Ebay for around that price. Very balanced and rich tone, not the least muddy. You might also be tempted to have a look at this: www.dpcustom.com

    Bass recording

Well, you COULD plug into the line jack, but the signal will be very weak. Of course could the volume of the signal be increased after it has been recorded, but this would also amplify any noise that has been recorded as well... and you don't want that, right? IME, guitar AMPS can handle basses...

    Yorkville YSM1p Powered monitors

I've seen a couple internet stores having them availabe to order (didn't say if they were in stock, though). But they really shouldn't have them since they aren't released yet. Strange indeed.

    Bass guitar for guitar player

Big impact. It's like comparing a telecaster to a strat. :) The Precision is pretty much a one-trick pony, with a very punchy and warm low-mid oriented tone. The Jazz, can thanks to the pickup configuration, basically get three different sounds. With the neck pickup soloed it sounds a bit like...

    Bad Day

I found it to have a bit too much low mids in the "gurgling" during first minute - too thick and rumbling, it buries the vocals. That said, the speakers I listened through is little more than decent ($80 Labtech PC speakers, 2 satellites + woofer), but you should mix so it sounds good on all...

Question on using CPU to audio whole house

Regarding the quality of MP3's... another important thing is which encoding algorithm you use. Fraunhofer rocks. Blade sucks. :)

Anyone that Uses SBLive to play SOundfonts in Sonar

It doesn't, but I recall having seen converter utilities (.sf2 -> .gig) around. Don't take my word for it, though.

Anyone that Uses SBLive to play SOundfonts in Sonar

Let Sonar do all the loading for you. It says you haven't got enough memory because you set the cache too small. Only use the Soundfont utility in SBLive's AudioHQ to increase the Soundfont cache size to the amount you need (man, those are some big Soundfonts!), but don't load them into memory...

Anyone that Uses SBLive to play SOundfonts in Sonar

Ah, I like this feature! Options -> SoundFonts Here you select which soundfonts you want to use in your project. Double-click on a row (or press "attach") to open a file browser. Locate the soundfont you want to use and "open" it. You have now loaded a soundfont to your SB-card's RAM. Yay...

    bass on a comp

    storage (backup) of wav files

There are many such programs. Look for "file-splitting" kind of software on e.g. www.download.com. Some of them are freeware as well. I have a program called FileSplit, which works quite well. You have the option of generating a simple .bat file for re-merging the parts (all you need to do is...

    Bass Direct Problems!

The problem is your bass. Soundgears ARE "thin", and that's just about the nicest thing I have to say about them. You can't "fix in the mix" what isn't there from the beginning.
