WTB - Portable Inline Console Mixer Board

You're looking for a Soundtracs Topaz. Would not suggest it for live use though. Construction on the Tapz was nowhere near that of a Solo. Consequently, I have a 24 Solo that I am currently going through component by component and ensuring every solder joint is good and every pot clean. I'll...

How Pissed Off Should I Be?

I'm a smoker, my wife is a smoker and the keyboardist, the other guitarist and the singer are occasional smokers. Rule #1 - no cigs in the studio - period-kaput. I do not want to have 15 years worth of work and effort getting coated with nicotine residue. Rule #2 - Seee Rule #1 Rule #3 - If...

Help with pickups for my 7-string

I have been through several 7 string pickups (Duncan, Bartollini, D'Marzio, Carvin) and and going for the 707-81. I have played EMG's before in past 6 string guitars and so I've delved into research on the infamous 707. There's the 707-85. never been keen on the 85. Always thought it sounded...

    Old guitar needs cleaning (pics)

alien - thanks for chiming in! I think I am going to replace the pickups and bridge, but that brush sounds like something i may get anyways for other uses, thanks. It's a very handy tool :) Along the edge of the frets where they meets the neck. Use a small piece of steel wool about the size...

    Old guitar needs cleaning (pics)

One thing u can try on the bridge is a burnishing brush. It's a little friendlier than the steel wool as it will not pull off the rest of the finish on the bridge. The brush can also be used on the screw heads. A quick shot of Rustoleum spray paint on the screw heads will prolong them from...

    Getting some tone and sustain

The suggestion for the EMG's is dead on. You can also try the Sustainer from Fernandes. If you build the body out of a heavier wood though, it will change the balance that you are used to.

Sounds like the EQ section needs to be recapped.

    Nuts

My suggestion would be to find a "give away" bass at some yard sale or a cheapo neck on ebay and practice on that. One screw up and you'll have to get a new neck or turn it over to a luthier to have it repaired.

    Looking For Meter Bridges

Also, on many LED Ladders in Fostex equipment, check them for those notorious cracked solder joints. LED's are hard to kill and cracked joints will probably be what you find :)

    Help me appreciate acoutsic guitars

I kinda have to disagree with you there. I have a Fender Gemini II acoustic that my parents bought for me back in 1984. It's a staple of all of my writing. I record with it, perform with it, and live on it. I play progresive metal, but everything is written on that guitar. I played the $15,000...

    Who Destroyed Metal?

Ok, let me ask this: What "genre" of metal are people speaking? Hairband/prettyboy metal? Hardcore Metal? Progressive Metal? Euro Power Metal? Goth metal? As someone said earlier, metal is NOT dead. having gone to see Evergrey, Nevermore, and In Flames in concert last year kicked major...

How to get that Stoner Rock Guitar Sound ??

A key element to the sound of Kyuss is their tuning. They tuned down to C. As they put it, they were out in the middle of the desert with no one to tell them otherwise.
