My keyboard (Yamaha PSR340) has a decent sitar sound, along with great useful other instruments like bagpipes, tubas and the occasional balalaika...

PS Oh, and a piano of course :)
What do you mean "on reason"?

PS If you want to learn about the basics of recording check out the homerecording.com site, it's got loads of useful info on audio and midi.
Thanks Skippy!
I always clean/demag before each recording session, I'm neat picky with my TASCAM. I think the demag-tape does some work, but it could be better so I'll get a bigger, handheld-one. This was just the confirmation I needed!

Andres!
You really made my day! I could say I'm one of the biggest fans of The Edge here in the stinkin' wet lowlands of Western Europe, and I didn't know about this site! It's great!
Thanks!

Hi!
I posted this in the newbies section, but mr. Texroadkill advised me to put it over here... maybe I'll get better results here.
I have a 2nd hand TASCAM 424 mkII, and it came with a cassette-tape like degaussing-device. NOT a head cleaner, but a degaussing-device. I was wondering if any of...
For what it's worth,
I play my Yamaha PSR340 keyboard through my Marshall VS65R amp and it seems to do just fine. I mean, I haven't blown anything and it seems to handle the low and high freq. just fine. A modelling box is a great idea.

Gec's right,
If you don't have a legal contract (in other words, put up by a legal professional) and the band will get big, the record label will find some way to ditch you and you end up with having nothing... Music Industry Bastards...
Dirk Demon
At first I didn't, but when you made that sound it came clear to me!
No serious, it gave me loads of info on how to record drums, I think they're the hardest to record. I guess we all can learn from these experiments. Thanks!
Dirk Demon
Damn, now I forgot to answer your question!
I'm not in a real band, I do everything myself. I have a TASCAM 424 mkII, a couple of mics, you know, the basic stuff.
I also record a friend's band, but I record the vocals apart from the rest of the band. It's easier (since I have to bounce some...
Tex and the Dragon are so right...
If you want to make a demo tape on the budget, go for the studio rent. If you want an addictive but FUN hobby, go for the homerec. Don't expect it to be as good as the pro-end studio, though...
This must be strange for you, this is a huge forum about...
I agree with Tex.
I mean, the wheather in Alaska is great, why go to FL anyway?
You can always visit them when you're famous and made millions out of your music. Just tell them that you won't be coming this year but that you'll buy them a villa in Miami Beach the year after.
Dirk Demon
Maybe, but I just like my TASCAM better. Twiggling real knobs is 100 times better than pointing your mouse cursur over an animated knob. Analog forever!

Hi there Paul!
Can't you use the mkIII manual, or the mkII manual you already have? They're pretty similar, I think. If you have a specific question about something that's not in your manuals you can always ask it here!
Sorry I can't help you out any more, but having a mkII myself I'd thought...
Degaussing/Demagnatizing
Hi!
I was wondering, I have a TASCAM 424 mkII (2nd hand) and it came with a cassette-tape like device for degaussing. In the manual they have a degaussing-thing what looks like a soldering gun. Is there a difference between them? If so, wich is better?
The tape-like...
Hmm... there could be a market for it. I would definately remove the "how to become a christian"-page, here's my motivation:
You have a recording studio specialized in gospel, church and religious music. I assume that most people visiting your studio and website are already christians, so...
Hi!
Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera (hey, if you have to choose to spend your money on good quality tapes for the 'ol TASCAM or a digital camera, what would you do?), but I also built my own desk. Actually, they are two desks. One for the computer, so that it also can be used for...
If you don't have the manual, maybe you can download it here:
http://www.tascam.com/products/manuals.php
If you have an older model it won't be there, but there might be a newer model with just about the same specs. (for example, I have a 424 mark II but I can also use the manual for the mark...
I don't know for a Portastudio 07, but my 424 has eight inputs (jack). If you plug for example four mics in it for your drums and you set the "record function" switch of track four to buss and all others to "safe" all your drum mics will get assigned to track four. Didn't your Portastudio come...
