    Pro Tools Mixing?

I'm looking to purchase a Mac and the Digi 001 package soon, and I was wondering what kind of mixer I could use with it other than the expensive HUI, and the overpriced Motor Mix. I want a mixer that will work with the software, and not color the sound like Mackie boards do. I know that tascam...

If someone did figure out the TMD1000, do you think it would out perform the mackie?

Want to start a home recording studio what do i need

I don't know if you want to go this route, but the new macs like the G4 are made for video and audio recording. Plus they're are as solid as a rock with half the errors PC's go through. BTW I own a PC. :(

    Recording heavy guitar with 1680?

I can get a used VS880EX for $1000. Should I do that, or keep saving for a DAW. I want a unit that I can expand with, hence I'm only 16.

    PCs vs MAC

One thing that I've noticed about PC's, is that they do a lot of things. But very rarely do they do any one thing very well. Another thing is that PC's are filled with mix 'n match parts which cause errors, etc... And if they aren't mix 'n match, then they are proprietary like the peice of dung...

    YES! it's a violin question!

Thanks, that helps immensly, you answered the exact question I was looking for, (does it sound natural) and just as my suspicion was; it doesn't. I'm gonna go with the pickup option, that sounds right up my ally

Anyone done any A/B testing of the BETA 57 vs the 57

If you have, do you have any comments about the outcome, or an mp3?

    drum set up

I too have a BETA 57, and was wondering if instead of using it on the snare use it on the toms, and then buy a regular 57 for the snare. This would be my total setup: -SM57/snare -AKG D112/kick -BETA SM57/Between the floor tom and 14" tom -SM94-LC/overhead (maybe another one to do X-Y later on)

    MD8 vs. VS-880EX

Thanks for the info. I think I'm willing to work with the Roland since I'm only 16, and I'm studying to go into the field of recording. I might as well give it a shot. :)

Tascam TM-D1000 to record onto (???)

Thanks Brad, that totally cleared things up. I think I'm just going to buy a vs-880ex and leave it at that. Anyone got a used one for sale?

Tascam TM-D1000 to record onto (???)

I want to buy a Tascam TM-D1000 so that when I can afford a DAW, I can mix with it. So if I get the mixer, what is a cheap $200-$700 recording medium. I was thinking about purchasing a Sony Mini Disk recorder, but will those multitrack 8 tracks? If not the mini disk then I'll get a cheap DAT...

    MD8 vs. VS-880EX

I'm looking to upgrade from my fostex FD-4. I want a unit that I will soon be able to uprade to a DAW when I have the cash. Now should I get the MD8 and buy compressors, effects, and preamps that I can hold onto till I upgrade. Or should I buy a VS-880EX that has everything in it, and worry...
