Here's what I got Myself for Christmas!

Hey true, haven't seen you in a long time. Hope you had a good Christmas. Get (or give) anything musical as a gift?

Check what I got for Christmas...

He's my brother, the guy who bought me the kit. He's just kidding around. Thanks for sticking up for me, though. :)

Cool. Sweet amp, by the way, it sounds great. Looks very cool, too.

Check what I got for Christmas...

Hey. Yeah, I'll be posting pics of my progress. I'm going to take a deep breath and start tomorrow. I have recorded my uke in the past with a LDC (Studio Projects) and with the onboard condensors on my Zoom H4 (actually pretty good mics). Both methods work fine - I find it's much easier than...

Check what I got for Christmas...

Hi Muttley, and thanks. I have my first question already. Around the soundhole on the top, there is a channel that has been routed for the rosette. I would rather a plain top (without a rosette), so I was wondering if I could just flip the top over? The routed channel will then be on the...

Check what I got for Christmas...

My brother bought me one of these - it's a Stewart Macdonald ukulele kit, all solid mahogany. I'm stoked about it - I've been playing the ukulele quite a bit recently, and this will give me a nice instrument and some woodworking experience. The only part I'm majorly concerned about is...

    just ordered a new guitar-xaviere xv700

Looks nice; I've heard good things. Have you seen their thinline Teles? Jay at guitarfetish is a good guy to deal with.

It Seems I'm Cooler Than My Daughters Think.

Cool story - I never knew you were a Neil fan. I brought TelePaul to see him around his fourteenth birthday (TelePaul's, not Neil's). My Dad's music taste sometimes comes close to mine - we went to see Buena Vista Social Club, Bruce Springsteen and Kris Kristofferson together. He hates Dylan...

Question for Muttley or Light: String Break Angle @ Bridge

:) Neither would I if i could make my own. I'd probably get carried away, though. You know, something double-necked, with around thirty sympathetic drone strings and a sculpture of a mermaid on the headstock. yep, a little knowledge would be a dangerous thing for me.

Question for Muttley or Light: String Break Angle @ Bridge

All of you should buy Fenders. :)

    Acoustic/Electric or your own Pickups?

The idea of adding a pick-up yourself appeals to me becuase you can be sure that, if you buy an acoustic without one, you are (hopefully) paying for the important things - materials, fit and finish.

Recommend me an acoustic under $1000!

I thought he was taking the piss. Although I do love the terminology he uses: "Quantum leap in sound." It sounds like somehing you'd read in a guitar catalogue - "Introducing the new Taylor 600 series. It should cost around 700 bucks, but we priced it at 1,350 just to ensure that it made the...

    What's your "goal" cover song?

I felt I had truly arrived as a guitarist when I first mastered Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey in the Jar". Intro, riff and solo. I was 15, and the world was my oyster. Now, I've forgotten most of it. Thank God. :D

Recommend me an acoustic under $1000!

Oh, I was multi-tasking; watching tv, playing my classical and writing an essay all at the same time. I think all three activities suffered because of a lack of undivided attention. Sorry to hear about the chicken pox - the time I had them easily ranks as the wost week of my childhood. On the...

Yeah, very good advice. What are you still doing up?

    What's wrong with me?

It's an AVT50 that he gave to me, then tried to take back.

    Blackheart Little Giant

I don't think it's the same as the Epi. I've heard that The Killer Ant (the little head that Buck posted) is .5 watts. Point 5 watts..

Trying to take my own advice...Can I have yours?

Awesome pic - the guitar is nearly the same size as him :D. He'll treasure that for years, I'm sure.

    strings/tremolo issues in my strat...

Yes. Get some dark pencil lead (a 6B artists pencil works well) and grind it up. Put this in the slots in the nut. This will prevent friction, and should stop the 'pings' you are hearing. You say your 5th string is 'ringing.' This sounds like the springs in your tremelo are vibrating in...
