    Can I expand I/O on digi002? with a MOTU?

The easiest way to add another 8 inputs to the digi 002 is with an Alesis AI-3 unit, which is 8 1/4inch jack inputs/outputs with an ADAT lightpipe input/output as well. These go on Ebay for around $150 used or $200 new(ish). Granted the unit doesnt have mic pre's, but if you're using a 16ch...

    Should I get a Sebatron?

yeah, it's a great price. It's from proaudiotoys.com, they're $ 1199 new (this is the model without a VU meter btw) and they have an 'E-coupons' offer which knocks 15% off. Free US shipping as well!

    Should I get a Sebatron?

Hi, Im looking at getting my first high-end mic-pre, and after reading every post there is on this board about pre's (LOTS!) I'm kinda leaning towards a Sebatron VMP-1000 or 2000 (1ch/2ch). These are available to me from the US for $720 and $1060 respectively. I'v also been thinking about...

Can't turn the gain past one!?!

Yeah, there's an XLR connector wired onto the back of the pre-amp so that's why I used it. Looks like I'l have to re-wire it! :( pretty sure the desk is at -10dB, it's an internal jumper thing so i'm not taking it apart to change it! Thanks for the help guys, should really have just thought...

Can't turn the gain past one!?!

Ahhh, something just dawned on me! What with the desk pre-amp amplifying it again, that could be making the signal too hot?!

Can't turn the gain past one!?!

You can actually hear the track if you want (need 2b a myspace member though  ) http://www.myspace.com/victorymarch It's the third track "untitled", my bro's project band, he plays all the instruments. It was recorded today in about 3hrs! Real professional! :o

Can't turn the gain past one!?!

I'm using SM57 top and bottom, it's a two input one output 'rack mixer' so I mix the top and bottom snare tracks to one output. I've never had problems with the snare signal peaking when I was doing it the old way i.e. two channels through the desk pre-amp only. I actually recorded it anyway...

Can't turn the gain past one!?!

Hey, I just got an Altec 1589b mic preamp. I tried using it today on the snare and if I turned the gain past one, it would clip on the desk and on protools, even with the desk gain and fader right down! Is an attenuator (such as this...

Panning: How do you eat yours?!

Here's a link to the two mixed tracks (Streamed) I think the guitars sound great personally! :) http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/crowbar0music.htm Maggots and Dead Inside are the two, missing main vocals, not done yet.

Panning: How do you eat yours?!

I suppose it depends on the amp, but in this instance I was recording a marshall stack, with fout internal "speakers", so you get slightly different tones from the top two to the bottom two. Is it common to pan guitars hard right/left? I'm really interested to learn how everyone does theirs in...

Panning: How do you eat yours?!

When it comes to mixing, how do you get that big full guitar sound? Is there a certain way of panning guitar tracks, i.e. how far apart should they be panned? I'm ok with panning the kit, bass and vocals etc, but I'd love to know how everyone pans their guitars, and how many guitar tracks they...

First mix and first post! :)

Your not the only one! :) Nah, thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated! The drums have no compression on them at all so I think I'l start with that and eq'ing them. (Since that recording I have re-skinned and tuned the kit, as well as double miking the snare, so I'm getting a much...
