    Fantastic Stupid Deal!

Am I the only one who sees the abbreviation SDOTD and assumes it must be something to do with herpes or cyphilis?

About to buy a M400 MkII...

I got one of those a few years ago on Harvey's recommendation. Never regretted it. Once I got over my newbie fetish for bright condensers on EVERYTHING, I really enjoyed it on male voices and still occassionally take it to gigs to confuse the performers by ignoring their technical riders...

    Vocal recordings sound "claustrophobic"

Sounds like your room unless you put a bathroom reverb on there. Tricky to pull an immediate fix but there is lots of good advice around here. The mic itself isn't all that flattering to your voice, you could do with something with a bit more of an open sound anyway (particularly in the highs)...

Cheap as nuts reverb that doesn't suck?

Awesome. Cheers guys. I'll hit Ebay later tonight and see what I can find out of those. Nik

Cheap as nuts reverb that doesn't suck?

I need to get an FX box of some sort quite soon, for sticking some reverb on live vox and guitars. To be used both in a small PA and in the monitor chain for recording. My budget is basically nothing, so the question is - which out of all the units that go on Ebay daily for next-to-nothing is...

Digital too analog. tell me if you like my idea.

I miss Walters. :( He'd know the right question to ask that'd help us get to the bottom of this creamy analogue warmth issue.

How much can I expect from Logic and my Macbook?

I've upgraded to 2gb now, it's the max this Macbook can take according to Apple. Haven't bought Logic yet because I'm too flaming busy to do any recording!!

    Guess Who cover..........

OK JordanD, your act is very entertaining for about five or six seconds but could you leave these nice people to their thread please? Perhaps you could start your own thread to discuss the ongoing development of your talent and the writing of your defining masterpiece?

Hey. My last options left. Store bailed.

I've never actually listened to the dynamic track, although I did record it once to telephone EQ for a couple of bits. Cool idea dude!

Hey. My last options left. Store bailed.

When I record rap I tend to do it with a Studio Projects B1 up on the stand behind the pop shield, and then give the guy a 58 to 'perform to'. As long as he doesn't stray too far you're OK, and a bit of compression will often even that out.

Hey. My last options left. Store bailed.

Yeah, why the hell not. Go for a dynamic like a 58. If you perform better with a handheld, like a lot of rappers do, it could work out well for you anyway.

Hey. My last options left. Store bailed.

I really, REALLY want to add something on-topic, but for some reason the phrase 'closet environment' has me all of a titter. Teehee! :p

Getting that 60's muted Bass sound?

Nice improvisations guys. Do you mean literally on top of the saddles, under the strings? Might have to have a fiddle.

Live Mic for Trumpet and Vocals

I played in a band with a female lead singer/trumpet player for years. We mostly used an E845 or occasionally an E835 so you'll be fine. The trumpet sounded slightly less harsh through an SM58 but her voice didn't sound as good so we stuck with the Sennheisers. You'll be fine with what you've...

Where have I been? What's with all the small low wattage heads these days...

Yeah, I get you. Aside from elaborate pedal boards there's not much you can do to get that sort of flexibility and even then it's not quite right.

........ setting their EQ up like in the HR logo (top left of your browser window right now)? It looks a bit odd. I'd like someone to strap an EQ of exactly that shape across the master buss of one of their mixes and post before and after clips in the MP3 clinic to see how terrible it sounds...

I could use some new pickups

I once had a Pearly in the bridge of a Strat and it was all twang. The Alnico II Pro, remember, are Slash's pickups. Dunno if that makes any difference! And no, I haven't heard the Lindy Fralins, but everybody I've come across who's had a pickup from them has been very happy. :)
