Sweetwater Interface comparison - Under $500

I'd be curious to know why they left Tascam out of the shootout considering they sell all of there interfaces as well. I just bought a Tascam 208i and I was setup and running within 5 min. I liked the fact that all 4 mic inputs have selectable phantom. Most of the sub $500 interfaces only have a...

    3 microphone Drum mix

Hello all, I'm going to be recording some rough mixes next week for band rehearsal. Just wondering if anyone has advice for a 3 mic setup on the drums. I'm thinking 1 kick and 2 overhead. The kit is standard size, nothing fancy going on.

    Seeking Feedback on Mix

I have changed a lot in this new mix. Same music score but very different drums and mixing plus added clean rhthm guitar. New Session - Final Mix by Trey Young | Free Listening on SoundCloud

    "On your way", original rock

reminds me of widespread panic to some degree. Like a mix between Umphrey's Mcgee and Widespread.

    Seeking Feedback on Mix

I'm very new to this whole thing. Any advice is welcomed. I really struggle to get a powerful low end, probably due to the VI's I'm using for bass and drums. Most of my mixes end up nasally and congested sounding. New Session Mix 2 by Trey Young | Free Listening on SoundCloud

    Seeking Feedback For Beginner Mix

    Seeking Feedback For Beginner Mix

I am relatively new to this site and a beginner when it comes to mixing. I am using pro tools as DAW. Please let me know your feedback on this mix (not mastered). Here is some background info to help. 1. No stereo panning applied (thinking of panning rhythm guitar and bass guitar away from...

    Suggestions for Tightening Kick Drums

Please keep in mind this is my first attempt to create a song using a midi controller I recently purchased (Akai MPK225). Also keep in mind I have no real training and just do this for fun as I'm a musician and I like to use Pro Tools as a creative canvas of sorts to work through musical ideas...

    Suggestions for Tightening Kick Drums

You're going to think I'm crazy but the kick was a midi track which I bounced to audio. I could easily go in and find a tighter kick sound, but I am really trying to learn how to mix real audio and bounced midi is the closest I have to the real thing. I have added in some EQ and I will post a...

    Suggestions for Tightening Kick Drums

I tracked some drums this weekend and the kick was not as tight as I would like it to be. It has a loose feel/sound to it. I could re-track with a different instrument however I thought this would be a good time to learn some mixing techniques to tighten the kick drum. Any and all...

    Best way to do this...

This may be an ignorant statement but wouldn't bleeding in the track back into the left, essentially be the same as reducing the pan amount.

The Journey of the Engineer. I want to hear YOUR story.

I am not a working sound engineer but it has become a hobby for myself. I pursued a degree in mechanical engineering because it is more in demand and I was good at math in school. However my passion has always been music and naturally I purchased some recording equipment to record me and my...

    Please help explain meter readings

I've never used Reaper but wouldn't this mean the master fader is indicating guitar input level? Seems strange that the master fader would be showing the interface input level, unless the clean signal was somehow being mixed in with the ampsim output signal.

    Please help explain meter readings

Hi, I am new here. It sounds like you may have some gain staging occurring after your guitar track channel strip. I'm thinking of a situation such as having a compressor on the master fader strip which is boosting the gain up from the recording level to clipping (red). This could also be an EQ...
