    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

Hm, maybe. But I'm not sure. One asycronous device I can deal with, and I don't think the times when you have more than one are that common. Synths may be a problem, but I wouldn't know 'cause I'm not into that kind of thing. I would rather feel comfortable knowing that my patchbay isn't doing a...

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

I know, I design gigabit ethernet routers for a living (or parts of them anyway). And I keep a constant vigilance desperately trying to stay away from any asycronous logic. :)

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

Yes, drift is hell. But if we only allow one master there is only skew left to deal with, and then we won't need all those PLL's. But I don't own enough boxes to make any statistcally significant guess as to how often output-only widgets like synths and ADCs have spdif and/or wordclock sync inputs.

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

Well, it's all a question of what the widget is actually supposed to be able to do. There is quite a few variables involved. If for exemple all the spdif inputs needs to be able to act as master, there is gonna have to be a lot of sample rate conversion chips in it, and those are quite...

A shot of Gammeldansk or Underberg always proves beneficial for my digestion. Or thats what I like to think anyway so I can drink it with a clear conscience...

    "t. bone" microphones

I'm not sure but I think "e.band" and "t.bone" are OEM brands Thomann use. I would guess most of the t.bones are ADK and such. And I know for a fact that some mindprint stuff is OEM'ed as e.band.

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

It's OK. :) Anyway, just so there is not even more confusion after this post, I don't want to mix the signal either (if I did the M-audio SAM could do it but just at 16 bits I think); I want to aggregate it! S/pdif can carry two channels of audio, ADAT can carry eight channels. I want to take...

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

Re: CHECK THESE OUT Yepp, that one can do it! And at about $1000 it's the least expensive one I've come across (I've seen it before, but thanks anyway:)). )(It takes the DMX16 with the optional MQA module to do it.) I still don't find it perticularly affordable...

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

Hm, I don't think it will! Because it is only a switch box and sample rate convertor, it doesn't actually aggregate several s/pdif streams into one adat stream. It only contains one Crystal CS8420 and a six-way switch. I would need something with four CS8420 and a little FPGA or someting that...

    S/Pdif to lightpipe digital patchbay?

Is there anyone out there who knows of an economical way to connect four s/pdif (or AES/EBU) somethings to one adat? More and more stuff these days seem to come with s/pdif I/O, so I'm looking for a way to turn one of the adat lightpipes on my digiface into four extra s/pdifs (or AES/EBUs). The...

why would a highpass filter boost the overall level?

That actually has nothing (or rater not everything) to to with the steepness of the filter. The slope of the filter is affected by both the order and the type. For a given order of filter the slope will eventually (far into the stop-band) become the same, but you can make it more or less steep...

heads up! v67g new on Ebay: $71,00!!!

Too bad the shipping would probably be about as much as the mic... I'm still pondering getting a few, 'cause thats a really nice price. And a few extra mics always come in handy.

why would a highpass filter boost the overall level?

I realized that, but I still thought it would be a good point to make... And I have never been able to stop myself kicking those already on the ground. (Swedish stock phrase, not to be taken literally.) You are forgiven! :)

    Direct Sound Extreme Isolation Headphones

Never heard of them. What do they cost? Myself I use Koss "The Plug" that I have modified a bit using a $8 pair of ear plugs and some of that stuff you shrink onto your cables ("krympslang" in Swedish, I have no idea what it's called in english); and on top of that I put on a pair of...

why would a highpass filter boost the overall level?

Well you are asking for it when you have your levels up there! Why do you think it sounds harsh in the first place? :) When you peak limited you created all sorts of harmonics and if the filter does any kind of analog modeling (and most do cause it sounds better) the filter will tame those...

C4 or 4 other mics : Which would you buy?

Well, you can buy almost anything here that you can buy in the US, but some stuff is a little overpriced. (That is really changing though. Prices have come down drastically the last couple of years. Now almost anything can be had for the same price as in the US, and some european stuff even...

C4 or 4 other mics : Which would you buy?

Hm, as I understand it the MXL is halfway omni already, so I think I would go either with the C4 or with the ECM and something with little better rejection than the MXL for those occations when you want less bleed.

why would a highpass filter boost the overall level?

It computes very well indeed! Read my post above again a few times, and I think you'll figure it out. (I probably have the advantage of a few years more math schooling so don't be feel bad about it. :)) And otherwise ask again, and I'll give a little more in depth explanation.
