The sound company was an outfit out of Portland OR (NW Sound I think? Garron Lee was the head honcho at the show).
We did Reba's sound check the night before and Phil Vassor's band the morning of the show. Both Tommy Harden (Reba) and Brock (Phil V) used 6.5x14 Yamaha brass snares, and they...
lol yup... It was just Kick/snare/racktom/floortom... (But a 15 year old DW so I forgave him) ;) The RE20 was very conspicuous sitting between the hats and the racktom
I ended up selling my SL because of issues like this... I have read where folks do get everything mapped perfectly and use theirs seamlessly as a control surface, but it just never clicked with me... In all fairness to Sonar and Novation however, I didn't really put too much time into it before...
I worked backstage for a Reba/Phil Vassar show this summer and was surprised to see an EV RE20 on Brock West's snare... Sounded incredible!
Of course that was for a live show but I keep trying to remind myself to try mine out in my studio real soon... Hmmm... Maybe tonight...?
I have one of these sitting next to my drums... Works perfectly with X1 (64)
Beats hitting record and sprinting to the kit before the song starts ;)
Frontier Design Group - Tranzport Wireless DAW Controller
That's exactly how I use mine... Be careful about pad sensitivity settings... Nothing worse than an errant plosive from a bass cab or mic triggering a sample you weren't ready for yet ;)
I think you meant to say in can be expanded to 20 using SPDIF and ADAT... ;)
I use a couple of ADAT pre's to bring in extra channels to my Tascam gear... In the studio, I use a Presonus Digimax D8 and on my remote rig, an M-Audio Octane.
Some folks (myself included) have found the Behringer...
My gut feeling is a driver issue, since a reboot will sometimes resolve it...
Have you checked with Alesis support folks on this?
Also, you say 'plenty of PC' ... Could this be a 64 bit system that some of the components in use aren't ready to play nicely with yet?
Just a couple of thoughts...
I just sold a vehicle that I had sitting around and put the $$$ back to the important stuff...
M-Audio Octane Pre
Two FMR RNC's
Sabian 13" AAX/HH Fusion Hats & 19" HHX China
"What was that dear? These? No, I've ALWAYS had these... You probably just didn't notice them before..."
:o
I put a mic on the batter side AND the front of my kick...
Many folks will put a mic on the batter side of the snare AND under the snare AND to the side...
It's not unheard of for folks to remove the resonant head from their toms and mic from underneath, or even to leave the head on and mic from...
So... you bought T-Racks Mastering Software and you're offering to apply it to our music for a fee?
That's a far cry from being "able to run their music to really good equipment".
Thank you, but I'll pass... Good luck tho :)
Hi Mira, Welcome to the forums!
The VS880 EX is a pretty robust little machine, although somewhat archaic by today's standards... It will produce some very professional sounding results for you.
As you experiment and learn more, you may find that mixing and producing your songs on a computer is...
