If they're going to be recording all the tracks live, you can probably get away with them just counting off the song and hitting record... You'll capture their performance, warts and all...
If they're going to do all the tracks separately, you're probably going to have to force them to work with...
Bruce Miller is a Grammy Award winning engineer trying to help keep the old school studio mastery alive while all of us are out there hacking it to pieces.. ;)
His web site is full of awesome tips and tricks that he is offering to us for free (as he has time to contribute). Here's a video of...
I bought Vegas Pro 7 NIB, unregistered from an Ebay seller for $45... It also came with Soundforge 8 and DVD Architect 4.
I think at the time, Sony was pushing 9 out the door but 7 did everything a little amateur like me needed it to.
I just received an offer from Sony saying I can upgrade...
Let me please introduce myself:
I'm a man of wealth and taste and I laid traps for troubadours who get killed before they reached Bombay.
Pleased to meet you!

I'm not one to offer any options on a Mac DAW that mirrors Sonar, but I have read where Cakewalk TTS can be used as a GM Midi module and how some other apps like Acid will recognize (and use) it as a DXi - I've never tried it, but perhaps you could post a question on some of the other DAW...
Record the Midi track into Sonar... Do your quantizing and then play back the midi drum track using the Juno as your synth (send the Midi signal out of Sonar back to the Juno). Dial in the drum sound you like, and run from the Line out's on the Juno back to the inputs of your DAW's sound...
I have a DPSII in my portable rack just to add 2 more channels via SPIF to my Tascam 1803 if needed.
When I first got it, I actually took the the time to rotate through the 'presets' while recording an acoustic guitar and, at the same time, recording the same guitar through one of my DMP3's for...
My Bluebird is more and more becoming my main go-to mic for pop male/female vocals. I've even used it a few times on V/O radio spots... Great little mic :)
Is the laptop plugged in or on battery power when you are recording/playing back? Also, are you currently using the onboard mic or plugging a microphone into the 1/8" jack?
I've seen plenty of laptops out there that will introduce a pretty nasty hum when on AC power and using the onboard sound...
A couple other options to try... Both do essentially the same thing.
Sonar has a picture cache with pictures of all your previous waveforms, etc. and this folder, when it gets too large, can really affect performance. To correct this:
Find your aud.ini file in your Cakewalk directories. Open...
I was looking through various mics on Ebay and down at the 'You might also be interested in' area there was a seller with 3 brand new AKG D440's, 2 used Shure PG81's, 1 used PG58, and a NIB pop filter... All for $130 Buy It Now.
From what I've heard, the PG81's do a pretty fair job of recording...
Been a while since I used 4 PE, but that definitely sounds like it could be buffer size issues... Taxing your DAW trying to record two tracks. Are you sure the static is actually being recorded?
Up the buffer size and see if the problem corrects itself... Including on tracks you already have...
A few of the outdoor venues we played this summer didn't put any thought into elevating the drummer to proper levels with their in-house or temporary stages, so I decided to take matters into my own hands... :D
I needed something lightweight and portable but it also needed to be durable and...
