Can RG6 cable be used for speaker wiring? I've got a lot of it left over from an antenna job I did a while back and am trying to come up with some other beneficial use.

Here's a few, in no particular order:

Don't know the cost of that stuff but you should compare it to 3" mineral wool. I used that in all my walls and ceiling (floor is concrete so I didn't worry about it) and it worked great.
Domestic (USA) supplier is Thermafiber. They have a website where you can contact them and find a...
Try here. If they can't help, come back.

I've got a Korg D1600 and have had similar problems. Essentially you need to limit the hell out of your final tracks to get the level up. I've found this easier to do on a separate computer program than in the Korg. On...
Don,
Try these guys. I ordered some Mogami cable from them and some connectors and they were very pleasant to deal with. Not sure if they have that cable you're looking for but they are a Belden distributor.

Use burlap cloth. You can order it cheaply off the internet and they'll ship it to your door.
I wouldn't use foam on the ceiling. Better to go with rigid fiberglass insulation (Owens Corning 703 or similar from Knauf) or confined mineral wool batts--again covered with your cloth.

They're offset quite a bit, since I had to isolate two side by side existing doors and decided to create a somewhat useable interior space (now affectionately know as the "cheese wedge"). Don't think you really need to though. Most layouts I've seen pretty much have the doors parallel with one...
For sliding glass doors, I got one at Home Depot for $125; but I think they were closing out that line. It's only single pane and not all that thick--but you'd be amazed at the sound isolation I get with the two (one existing, plus the new one I installed) in series.
Check the Pennysaver or...
Consider separating your live and control rooms with a set of double sliding glass doors (arranged in parralel)--you can use this for visual between the rooms; access; and open 'em up if you want to increase your rehersal space.

I personally like the corridor approach--but then again I'm not going for great aesthetics (I stuck a couple of 4-in diam. cleanouts through my walls). The benefit is you can route anything you want through there and not have to worry about having the right connections hardwired in when you...
So I learned a couple of lessons the hard way (is there any other?) and thought I'd pass 'em along:
Rule 1 - TIN YOUR TIP
If the tip of your soldering iron is not bright and shiny with solder, it WILL NOT conduct enough heat for you components to get hot enough for the solder to flow. Simply...
Appreciate all the input.
On the Presonus LT, I don't think there are 8 individual channel outputs; but I'll check.
I've seen some very affordable older model Soundcraft mixers on e-bay as well--is that a gamble worth taking? The cheaper ones only have 8 channels of input but that's all I...
I'm in the market for an 8-channel preamp with 8 analog outputs to feed into a Korg D1600 cause the onboard preamps are noisy as hell. It needs to have phantom power on each channel but that's about it. I've thought of getting a decent mixer used just for the preamps but don't really need all...
Thought it was, until a hearty slam of the studio door disloged it and delivered a glancing blow to our guitar player's shoulder. Now it's held in place by a couple of rotatable stays attached to the wall. I can post a picture if you like.

Jason,
I built a removable plug out of 2x3's and MDF. The 2x3 frame sits just inside the jams. The MDF panel is oversized with rubber garage door seal material to seal against the wall surrounding the window. I filled the gap in the 2x3s with OC-703 insulation and put a couple of handles on...
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll keep pluggin' at it. Probably retrack the Vox, soften up the lead, and maybe take a little of the mid-freqs. out of the guitars.
