    Line 6 Poll

It may sound good to your ears right in front of the cabinet or at home in your jam room, but what your audience will hear is totally different. Once you mic it, and run it through a PA, your highs and mids are gone, and your sitting right there with the bass players frequencies taking away the...

    Amp enclosure?

What about using a lower watt Tube amp inside the iso-box. Like say 5 or 10 watters and crank it? My 20 watter is way loud (as loud as a 1/2 stack). Not sure of the recording quality of those low watter, but maybe would help with the pure loudness of your recording session. The only question...

How to get a fat, vintage distortion/overdrive from a modeler (PodXT, Amplitube etc.)

Good Point. In addition to that, one of the most important things you need for crunch is the right sounding guitar pickup to get what you want. For me its all about the P90/Soapbar crunch. Those will get you a crunch even with modling. No, not as good as a real tube amp, but you will get...

After 1 month of sickness I'm back with something heavy

Maybe sing off to the side of the mic as well or maybe you can take your original vocal tracks and mess with it a bit, just so it fits in better with the rest of the band.

After 1 month of sickness I'm back with something heavy

This is good song. I like. Dude you have a great voice. I think you have too many effects on it though. You dont need it. just go with some compression, and a little reverb/delay to mix it in better with the band. Listen to the 1:50 mark how the vocal level is so far above the band...

    New Guitar Head

So you could shed some 1st hand experience with us. Listening to the sound samples on that link above, does it sound alot different then it did in the early 90's? Just curious, this head has caught my attention recentely. thanks

    New Guitar Head

Is this a opinion based on personal experience with the Carvin MTS amp, or are you making a general assumtion about it? The reason i ask is the sound clip off the link sounds pretty darn modern and it actually sounds like a really nice amp for modern distortion. It also sounds like a true...

    Soapbar or single coil?

Go with the p-90's. Bell like tone for sure. I have them and would not use anything else for the classic rock and blues songs my band plays. I would describe them as jingle jangley, and extremely punchy and clear sounding. Open chords roar, and lead notes jump right out. They do have a...

    Another Peavey 6505 thread

Well, maybe, but before taking it in, check it with a different guitar, and as others have mentioned check it with other cables. Even a bad input jack on your guitar could mess with the output of your pickups, not to mention a bad volume or tone pot. Peavey usually has like a 5 year warranty...

    Jonny Lang

Being from Minnesota, and seeing Jonny Lang in several Different situations live(small clubs, outdoor mega shows, i saw him do a couple songs with Govt Mule as a special guest), this is the conclusion Ive come up with. He's a very good blues guitar player. He can do alot of your typical blues...

Can you tell by looking at tubes if they need replaced (PICS)

I thought this would be a good learning Thread for those of us that dont know basics of guitar amp tubes. Can you tell by looking at them when they are on? notice my picture. All the tubes are burning differentely. Some are glowing bigger, some are dimmer. The first power tube in the back...

Whats the differences in tone/gain between differnt tubes

Whats the differences in tone and gain between differnt tubes. Im talking brand names. Will a JJ el34 sound the same as a groove tube el34 as a RUBY el34. I need to retube a head and I am wondering what my options are. My head is a Hughes and Kettner Duotone, 100 watts. The manual says it...

    Too much natural reverb!

Not sure here..... Are you being miced and going through a FOH/PA system? If so i would think smaller would be better as long as you can hear yourself along with the others in the orchesta where you stand and play. Let the PA do the work for the rest of the room/audience if there is one...

    Best Guitar Under $400

PRS SE SoapbarII. The pickups on these guitars are insanely good for clean pristine tone and you can get so many different gain stages with them and the volume knob. bright and robust is how I would desribe the tone of those guitars. Not sure if a Johnson modleing amp will convey that...

    FX loop question. HELP !!!

Did you also turn up all your effect mixes to 100% ? Did you do it within each preset, or did you just do it using the parameter wheel, or both? Basically what Im wondering is do I have to do all 3.... Turn KillDry on, Turn the effects mixes to 100% in the preset and using the parameter wheel...

    FX loop question. HELP !!!

Yeah, I did read that that feature should be turned on, and all the effects "mixes" should be on 100%. Weird, but it still sounds different/not as good. The amp with the serial loop sounds way better. I think they did the Parallel loop to match older vintage pedals maybe, but it still is...
