3 practice amps to gig with?

I couldnt agree more with Toker41. There are way more BAD sound guys than the good ones. ALot of them have alot of technical ability, but the one thing they are missing is a good ear for a balanced mix and alot of them have lost their passion for doing the one thing that everyone involved in...

Using an amp as a pre amp

Why not just sell or trade you're old amps in and buy an amp that works right for you? They both seem to be decent enough known and used by lots of players, surely someone would buy them from you. That is if that is you're situation. Life is too short to not get the amp you want and need. I...

    Les Paul Value (pic)

Thanks for the comments and info posted in the links. I havent decided whether or not to buy it. They guy is asking $900. Seems little high but it does seem somewhat rare. It may hold some value even being a "studio" model. What would you guys pay or what do you think the value of this is...

    Les Paul Value (pic)

Hey gang any opinions on the value of this Les Paul Studio from 1996. Its kinda cool, Ive never seen a LesPaul STudio with p-90's. The description says it is a "gem"series Topaz model or something. Does that sound legit to you? Thanks for any thoughts. This is what the seller has to say...

    no fx loop

DIDO, why would you need extra delay pedal with this amp when its all built into it? Maybe put money into the footswitch board that will switch everything on and off with this amp? Good luck hope you find what works for you.

Calling all Chord guys, Beatles chord help

Thanks Henry, but no it is not the second chord in the song, that is an F#dim. The one im trying to figure out is during the solo and to my ears it only hits one time in the song. Im not a theory guy. The recording i have almost sound as if they put some weird shimmering effect on it that...

Calling all Chord guys, Beatles chord help

Thanks, there are alot of versions on it on youtube and what not, but there is a really rogue sounding chord in the original recording of it by the beatles that no one plays right. The logical choice to me is a C7th and I think you add the 9th but im not sure. thanks again.

Thougts on the PRS SE series?

YES - they play nice, YES they sound great, Yes they stay tune. At least mine does. I use the soapbar II SE model as my MAIN guitar. I've played about 4-6 shows a month with it for the last 3 years, 3- 1 hour sets, about 45 songs total each night, doing leads in at least 1/2 the songs, so the...

Keeping a Floyd Rose in tune?

Sounds like all you need to do is once its gone flat, open up the back cover and maybe give the springs a little tightening just enough to pull it back into pitch. That may be just barely a fraction of a turn, so dont go cranking your screwdriver right away, just give it a nudge. Also, start on...

Please Please Please - check my mix and production...

Yes, Also, consider on the chorus especially to add a vocal harmony. There is a nice and simple enough melody on the chorus that adding a harmony to it would really drive it home. Also, like someone else mentioned, the drums are hurting you. gotta hear that kick on a song like this...

    Drop-tuning etc

How is that possible? How can a E note sound like a C? If its E its E. If you go lower to C then that will be lower than a higher E, the higher E cannot sound lower than a C note that IS lower. just saying.

    Fast playing guitars....with 24 frets.

Outlaws, check out the Ernie ball Music Man, John Petrucci model. Cool newer whammy bar that stays in tune with no locking nuts, 24 frets, split coil option on the humbuckers, very slim comfortable neck, beautiful finishes, the tuning pegs are the kind you stick the string in and cut it(no...

this one will fit your price range. End of story, the best sounding combo from clean to blues to metal. It is only 2 channels. for your blues sounds this will kick it out for you for you. THis guy runs through quite a few different settings. Its only 20 watts, but it is a loud and cleaner...

    Newer Randall Modular tube amps

Thanks for the input. Do you find you have to crank it for your recording sessions? or are you able to find a your sound at decent volumes? At the store I tried it at, i played at fairly low volume or "bedroom" volume and it sounded really full and still held the tubie sound.

    Newer Randall Modular tube amps

Anyone have personal experience with these? I played through the MTS head and tried about 6 of those swappable preamp modulars. It was unbelievable. Went from oversaturated metal to a break up blues/rock tone all through the same amp, just swapping out a different preamp. These are all tubes...
