What?!!! Can I just say that this is the most successful thread I've ever posted! Yeah for me!!! But not for my extra $600 bucks when it looks like I'm selling the second mc anyway. Not into this whole stereo miking but I think I can get $700 for the other mic so I'm good.

Thanks for all the responses. A few questions... Boulder - my mix is drums, bass, acoustic guitar as the main feature and some mildly distorted electric in the bridge and chorus. Would this be considered a dense mix? Mixsit - so in order to get that wide sound, I'll need to record twice...

My conscience got in the way of whether I would or would not return the mics. My conscience was not needed at all in this decision.

Music is so important. I do reasonably well for myself in business. Having said that, I understand that with mistakes come penalties. If our organization made a similar mistake I would expect a similar consequence. To be honest with you, I wouldn't expect the client to advise us at all...

I most certainly did pay for one of them and will use one of them. The other is still in it's plastic. If I had ordered from another seller who was only slightly more due to shipping costs, I would likely have received the correct order and be using it immediately. I am not going to sacrifice...

One notable difference may be that the seller is in the US and I'm in Canada. There was nothing in the ad about a stereo pair. Regardless, I emailed them and offered to send them back only if they send me a single c414 first so I don't lose any recording time. We'll see what they say.

That's another thing that's affecting my decision. They are a boxed stereo set and if I send them back I'm without a mic for another week or two. I feel like I have the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other ;)

True, my wife said the same thing. We're talking about sending them back. Not sure what I would do with a stereo set anyway. I only record vocals and acoustic. Drums, bass and piano are all digital or midi and I use guitar rig 4 for my electric.

I just purchased a brand new unopened c414 xlii on eBay for under $800. I thought this was a great deal as they sell for $999 each here in Canada. Anyway, long story short...the Fedex driver just delivered them and I was shipped a STEREO SET!!! SWEET!!!
