In your opinion, what would be the best channel strip out of the following for the front end in a modest home studio? And why?
UA LA610
UA 6176
Neve Portico II
Millennia STT-1
Summit MPC-100A
Avalon VT-737SP
Thanks,
Foiled again.
Ok, in the hopes of receiving further responses on this question...does anyone know if I would still need a mic pre with UAs new Apollo product? I'm not really sure of the workings in a mic pre, I just know that my 710 makes my vocals sound sweet...I have no idea how it does...
Hi All,
I currently own a UA710 and am considering upgrading to an LA610 Special Edition (not the mkii) or their new Apollo product. The LA610 SE for that classic amazing sound with LA2A comp and EQ. The Apollo for versatility and unlimited expansion. Below are the features of the Special...
Hi All,
This is a rough mix of a new song I wrote. Looking for fresh ears. Usually I take my tracks to the car to A/B but haven't reached that stage yet...So again, still very rough.
NOTE : THERE IS A LAG OF SILENCE AT THE BEGINNING AND VERY LONG LAG AT THE END. Haven't taken the time as of...
Hi All,
I'm using Sonar X1 and I have some midi tracks that I'm happy with and want to convert them to wav so they're no longer taking up processing power. i.e. bass and steven slate drums. Any idea how I do this?
Thanks,
I feel that I already have some good tracks down. Just looking for ideas to add that sparkle and polish to it...mainly on the picking in the verses. 1st verse has is bare with vocals. Second verse has drums and bass as well. I'm using a Taylor GS7.
What do you guys think Adele did to get that sweet sound on "Someone Like You"? Apart from having a killer voice of course. I don't hear any doubling or chorus in that song.
Thanks for the tips. I think I have some good tracks down. I just want to make them sparkle and shine like you hear on pro recordings. The verses are picking just with bass and drums. The bridge and chorus are strumming accompanied by a distorted guitar as well.
Hi All,
Considering you've recorded the best acoustic guitar track possible, what do you do in the mix to get that sweet larger than life acoustic guitar sound? I.e. effects, EQ, etc.
Just looking for some different ideas to try.
Thanks,

Hey jimmy, I meant no ill will...just a quick response. From what I understand a raid 0+1 writes and reads different info to two drives at the same time, thus twice the speed.
Thanks for the tips from everyone. Unfortunately I'm not that computer savvy and don't want to mess with the current...
