    Studio Projects TB-1 vs T-3

Hey Y'all  Thanks for the advice! I had given up on this thread months ago. I am still just working with my C1, and am working to improve/upgrade the rest of my signal chain before I shell out for another mic. Looney, your song kicks ass! my C1 sounds much brighter but not as rich.

    Acoustics for Dummies - Maxwall?

Hey everyone! I haven't been in this forum b4! But I really need your advice. I record vocals in my bedroom, and it (the room) sounds like ass. I gather that this is because of "slap and flutter", whatever that is. I use a cardoid mic (C1), so I'm not trying to record the ambience, only...

How to achieve the "shiny chorus" sound

It is probably this or something similar (is there anything similar?) http://www.tc-helicon.tc/Default.asp?Id=418 1) it lets you add as much breath as you want 2) it can generate realistic pitch-(or gender) shifted voices that you can also voice-model (with things like breath, growl, rasp...

    Mic Cable Quality?

    C-1 Distortion Problem

My SP C-1 has suddenly developed a bit of a problem. I've used it several times, and it has sounded perfect, never any unwanted sounds. But the last 2 times I used it, it would distort on random sounds. Not just on loud sounds (so it isn't clipping or volume-related), and not always on...

    Mic Cable Quality?

So I'm recording using a 25 foot mic cable I bought at Radio Shack. XLRs on both ends. As far as I know it's ballanced. It was around $30 CDN (so maybe $22 USD). I have noticed that there are some very expensive mic cables, like Monster Cable...

    Vote for mic-pres

Cool John -- nobody is saying you're gay. Oh wait, yes they are. :p But seriously, these kinds of posts are really kinda dumb. Run a search on any of these units, and you'll learn a lot more than you will from this post. If you're really clever, you'll search the web for professional...

    Tilting the Mic

I found my C1 makes me sound very nasal unless I keep the diaphragm exactly level with my mouth. To high or low--even by a few inches--can make a big difference in the sound. I guess this holds true more for close-micing than other techniques.

Different mike for vocoding on microkorg...

Vocoding is Madonna in "Music" "Do you like to boogie woogie Do you like my Acid Rock" Just to be a smartass... I saw an interview with the producer of Cher's "Believe" where he played back individual tracks from the song, and showed the effects he had used to create the vocals. He...

SP C4 and friends in Canada.

I just bought (a month ago) a C1 from my local L&M (in Regina) for $400.00. Which is ridiculously expensive considering I could have gotten it for $200.00 US INCLUDING free shipping from EastCoastMusicMall (I don't think that deal is on anymore). The only reason I went with L&M is because I...

Interesting what I learned about the DMP-3

So what are we saying here--Is it safe to assume that any pre using the INA163 is pretty good? Or is that a huge overgeneralization? For example, the TC Helicon Voiceworks: http://marketing.tcelectronic.tc/Files/tc_helicon_files/VoiceWorks/Sales_sheet_english.pdf (sorry--I'm still...

This should start shipping any time, I think... http://www.joemeek.com/whatsnew.html :)

    Asking for a miracle.

A good mic would help too. Try a SP C1. The Voiceprism has a mic pre, but if you don't go down that road (I don't know why you wouldn't--you can make yourself sound like an entire boy band) (and who wouldn't want that!?) then you should invest in a good mic pre. At least a SP VTB-1 or...

    Asking for a miracle.

What are you talking about Chessrock? You can find a magic box to fix anything nowadays-- http://www.tc-helicon.tc/Default.asp?Id=248 I'ts coming out as a plug-in for powercore too. Just because you're the wicked witch of the west doesn't mean you have to sound like it...

Is anyone using an MMP-2 mic modeler

I want to know this too--has anybody used/tried this preamp? I want a couple of opinions. I just (yesterday) received their demo CD with the preamp modelling, which sounded Ok, I guess... As just a preamp how would it rate against my Seasound Soloist Pre's? And are the FX any good?

TC Helicon Voiceworks vs Focusrite Voicemaster Pro

Thanks again for the comments! :) :) :) I checked the "savedbytechnology" site, and I just might start shoppong there. At least I'll save being screwed by the Government in duties for importing from the states! But do they ship??? I didn't see any way to "add to cart" on the site, and NO...

    Channel Strip for 500 buxx

Oh come on now--all current Joemeek models have been discontinued! Wait a few months (if you can) for the all-new Joemeek line Alan Hyatt (PMI) is promising. http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=85348 From the sound of things, holding out for the new MQ3 will be well...

TC Helicon Voiceworks vs Focusrite Voicemaster Pro

Thanks guys! Middleman, I saw that review too, and got all excited, until I read it. They honestly don't even mention the Voiceworks in it! It only seems to be about the VoicePrismPlus. They did say there are more articles coming, so I'll have to keep an eye there. And that was a great...

TC Helicon Voiceworks vs Focusrite Voicemaster Pro

Thanks guys Middleman, I would go try them out at the store, except that the store doesn't have either of them. They have to special order them in for me, and I have to pay a non-refundable deposit for them to do that. I'm in Canada. And not big-city Canada. So I guess what I am really...
