    pg52 or beta 52

I wouldn't buy any PG mic. A good mic makes so much difference. You'll struggle and fight with a crappy one to make it sound OK, but a decent mic will allow you to put that effort into making it the best it can be. One time I said some nonsense thing that my friend interpreted as a wise...

    Lost My Sm57 $*#^

I lose guitar picks all the time, but never a mic. One time I lost the input enable buttons for half my inputs in cubase! I reinstalled the drivers like three times, tried everything I could think of, with no luck. Eventually I figured out that the window was just resized and I needed to make...

If the single vocal is thin sounding, perhaps the singer is thin sounding.... Or if the rest of the mix is thick sounding, leave the vocal thin.

rack mounted eq don't know what to do

I saw one a while back, cuz I've been looking at em, and earworm something was the high bidder for a while, and I was pretty sure it had to be you. I should have the money to get one next time some come around. There were a bunch back when I was first looking, but I'd just spend all my money...

Isn't that the Ringo Starr Signature Vocal Mic that Shure put out for a few years during the late 60's?

    Earthworks Kickpad

Awesome, I've been waiting for a lot of the newer stuff to show up on the site. Should give me more stuff to read, and maybe someday I'll actually have money again.... although I'm getting a paycheck tomorrow, yeaaaah. Still recovering from my last purchase of a MOTU 828, but still need a rack...

drums and guitar with sennheiser and shure

Yeah, definitely try to mic both amps, rather than taking a line out, especially if you're going to have any kind of overdrive or distortion. Line guitar = t3h suck Line out on bass, on the other hand, is often the way to go.

rack mounted eq don't know what to do

Hey earworm, did you bid on an m8 on ebay a while back? I call next on your m8 after him, I'm considering getting one, unless I change my mind back to a racked pair of dmp3's and going with just 4 chanels of pre for now.

    Earthworks Kickpad

Hey Warren, do you sell, or plan to sell, the kickpad? I know you carry earthworks stuff, and frontend is pretty much the first place I look for some of those names. 57 definitely sounds very much improved. If I didn't know better, I'd swear it adds stuff that wasn't there before. Not as big...

    Gift Mic

What about the kind of crackpot that puts meat on a bed and calls it art. That's not art. That's meat. Now the guy who dyed an entire iceburg red, I'll call that art because it's VISUALLY APPEALING. There's more to art than just making a statement. A statement without skill is punk music!

    Mid-range Mastering?

My opinion is more along the lines of thinking that if you need more midrange, turn up / accentuate the guitars, or whatever else in the mix is filling that range.

reccommend me some directx mastering plugins

If you're looking for clarity and low end tightness, I think the place to fix that is in the tracking and in the mix, rather than with mastering.

    'homestudio mastering' versus professional mastering

Somebody's bound to bring up the fact that an important part of getting someone else to master your stuff is the objective opinion - you can never really separate yourself from the work you've done and look at it purely in terms of what's there. Often another pair of ears will instantly hear...
