I'm to the point in my project where I'm throwing in some background effects. I have this sweet idea for a phaser'ed wind whoosing thing over an intro of one tune... do you guys know of any good plug-in's that generate such effects?
I use ProTools LE, so RTAS is preferable.. but I can find a...
I appreciate the tips regarding the all-in-one-take method, but redoing the drum tracks is not an option for us right now.
With that said, I would like to change the topic to "What can I do to HELP these fused drum tracks?"
Trust me, if I had more reliable band members who were in to this...

Here is a drum solo/fill section.
This is just a bare overhead track panned center. Obviously the real session has a bigger sound. This is the most common example of the editting I am referring to.
Thanks for the replies!
Recently, my friend and I recorded lots of drum takes for an EP we are working on.
In order to get the best possible arrangement I had to fuse together different bars of different takes and different fills. (etc) The adjustments are not painfully obvious, but they are noticeable. My question...

Alright, it sounds like this is what I'm looking for. However, I can't find any hands-on-reviews on the 'net, so to those of you who have used it: How is it? Is it worth the money?
Thanks, I really appreciate replies.
This may be a stupid question, but I came close to making a huge gear mistake last night until I caught myself at the last minute. (due to making assumptions from not finding a straight answer)...
Both of my mics (a dynamic and a small diaphram condenser) are used in various positions around my guitar amp that is set to a decent volume, not blaring but still a pretty good sound. The mic's return good sound but its pretty quiet, probably somewhere around 35% of the sound ratio (0 being...

When I record a rhythm guitar track with a hard overdriven tone I would normally use live, the sound wave comes out looking like a big solid wall.. (not clipping, it just feels solid and lifeless) Any tips for getting great sounding overdriven/distorted that has some life to it?
By the way...
thank you for all the replies. I will be sure to use a pop filter when I record real takes in the next few months! and also practice to keep these sounds to a minimal
very simple question, I considered putting it in the newbie forum (as I am a huge newbie) but it seemed to fit better here:
Lately I have been practicing vocals using my included mic that came with my computer. (http://www.unicom-pc.com/images/mic-spk-2.gif something like that)

Keep in mind that even though you only have 8 tracks, you can always bounce them as one. So if you have stuff on Tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4... you could combine them all to 1 to free up more tracks. Of course this means you can't edit them anymore (so make sure they are PERFECT!).. but hey, more...
I'm looking into buying an Mbox 2 and I have some questions about running it and its use in general. Please, if you can answer either of these questions.. please do!
1. The computer that I will be using has the following specs:
