    MoogBoog

Just wanted to post this and get some opinions. I originally recorded it in Cubaste VST using the onboard drum machine but couldn't stand the cheezy canned drum sound. I dragged all my brothers old drum sets out of the crawlspace... we're talkin...4 sets of drums with 20 cymbals, doublekicks...

    Track layout hints

I'm hoping there's some old-school way of doing this cause my way just plain sucks. How do 48 track or digital studios keep track of multiple takes so that they can easily retreave them at a later date? For instance if I want to take a huge number of guitar takes and assemble the best parts...

Tons of drums & no knowledge

Howdy... I need some real basic knowledge on how to put together a drum set, how to mic it, adjust it, ... all the stuff I need to do to record it. I inherited several drumsets from my late brother in 1993. Rogers, Yamaha... about 20 sabian cymbals, paiste etc... double kicks and tons of...

    Movie Soundtrack

Nope... what ya see is what ya get unfortunately :) I've spent a lot of time in studios, but never actually sat down with something like Cubase VST with unlimited tracks and effects to play around with. I've had the regular MIDI version of Cubase since 1993 but I've mostly done cover tunes so...

    Movie Soundtrack

ok... lemme know if this mix is any better... if anybody cares that is.. I threw out the guitar tracks & redid em as 5 seperate stereo tracks. Basically, the last version had SQUEEKs all the way through it from the guitar strings while changing chords, so I recorded each chord on their own...

    Copyright on known songs

Does anyone know how the copyright laws work when it comes to re-doing a well known song as an instrumental. For instance if I was to take an old Boston or Supertramp tune and re-do it with an almost identical instrumental backing track.... then just add guitar in place of the vocals... what...

    Free Cheese!!!

Ok..... I took the excellent advice yooz guys gave me from the last coupla tracks I posted here and applied em to this one. Basically, I guess this'll be my third Cubase attempt & I'm still having trouble with some basic stuff, like figuring out how loud to make the guitar (ie, in my headphones...

    Movie Soundtrack

hmm... yeah yer right. I didn't even notice that. I think the problem might be that I do everything on headphones (3 a.m. and assholes for neighbors) so when I mixed it I was assuming the stereo mix would sound wider than it would coming out of speakers.... basically I tried for what the...

    Movie Soundtrack

Ok... I need some major opinions on this one. It's supposed to be the backing track to a city scene... basically fast-motion, moving shots of cityscapes, driving down highways, timelapse shots of the city at night etc... Mainly my own opinion is it's too busy sounding...ie, too many...

    First attempt comments needed

yeah... I tried adding more processing to the drums but as soon as I do, it overtasks my CPU and the sound cuts out so I can't hear the mix anymore... I have to kinda guess and then listen to the exported mixdown. I think maybe I'm gonna have to bounce the drums and guitar to a smaller number of...

    Need more memory??

Whenever I add more than a few VST effects (like adding reverb to 3 different tracks), the sound keeps cutting out ... ie, it'll be going along fine but if I just move the mouse or grab a fader boom, the playback sound goes silent for a few seconds. Is this a result of needing more RAM or a...

    Mixing down to 2 track

I've got Cubase VST/24 and I'm just curious what methods people use for doing their final mix. Do you use an outboard application, or mix down to 2 tracks in Cubase itself? I've got a song done with 24 tracks and want to do a final mix, then convert it to MP3... just not sure of the steps to...

    I Got A Girl.mp3

lol... yeah... course it's a joke. Our way of making fun of some of the teen bands that used to record at the local studio. the vocals are done in a bathroom.. & the guy takes a piss while he's in there... the bass is all done on one note (cause the guy doesn't know how to play bass) except...

    Serious Thing

I guess around 87 to about 93. I haven't done anything in years so I went & bought Cubase VST & got some new equipment and I'm just learning all this digital stuff from scratch. My regular stuff is more guitar oriented... http://members.rogers.com/schmange3/Scarysnd.mp3 ...basically for...

    Serious Thing

heh...no secret... :) The stuff's recorded on everything from a Fostex250 four track to a B16. The drums are either live or a Yamaha RX11 through an Akai S612 sampler. The rest of the instruments are done by me on all kindsa stuff, old Moog synths, Korg Poly 600, GR700 guitar synth etc...
