"For playing Taylors, you get a negative rep point."

my buddy owns the 110 and it's probably the best acoustic i've played in my life. it has an amazing sound. i havent really gotten my hands on some higher end taylors, but the 110 would make me happy forever if i had it :)

M-audio MobilePre USB, is it any good?

I used to have the mobilepre before I decided to purchase the pci-based delta 1010lt. I liked the mobilepre and found that it worked well. as scrubs said the us-122 does 24bit, which is better than 16 bit (only in terms of acquiring more sound information initially, since eventually they...

fs (maybe) marshall 8080 valvestate combo

Oh, I should note that this amp's blue book value is $300 and is sold by a certain used gear store in the northeast for $280. It's gone as high as $350 recently on ebay. of course, all these values are relative to one's actual interest in it. Either way $200 isn't too shabby. Figure I'd...

fs (maybe) marshall 8080 valvestate combo

hate to post yet again, but i posted some photos http://www.geocities.com/fpereira16/marshall1.jpg overall view with footpedal in view http://www.geocities.com/fpereira16/marshall2.jpg closeup with fairly visible controls and inputs

fs (maybe) marshall 8080 valvestate combo

i should also note that this amp has been lightly used since 1999. since i've lived in dorm rooms and apartments i've never put the volume more than 2 typically in order to not disturb people. even though i have a house now, i really don't need this much power in an amp. so if anyone wants to...

fs (maybe) marshall 8080 valvestate combo

Just trying to gauge any interest at this point, but I have a Marshall 8080 valvestate combo I was thinking of selling. This was the first series of valvestates and from what I've heard are generally regarded as the best. This is a 1x12 combo with 80watts of power...

Technological advancement vs Vintage, and why

i'm 25 so i grew up with the emergence of modern rock and such, and honestly i don't think stuff really sounds "better" per se, just different. i used to be really into metallica and the cool thing is to get that mesa sound going. but since the last few years i've been falling back more and...

    compare my mixes

thanks for the comments. I agree, Travis, my eq'd mix is tinny, that was the word I was looking for. It may very well be the case where I don't have to do much in terms of eq, just to make it a little brighter sounding and getting some stuff out of the way on the low end. At this point, I...

    compare my mixes

Alright, I have to start out by saying I know almost nothing about mixing. We all have to start somewhere i guess. I learned how parametric eq works and tried using that on a song I've been working on. Just wanted to see what people thought of my before and after, what I did right, and more...

    Guitar Recording: Direct in-->Amp

hey there, i think what you're suggesting is a fairly common procedure known as "re-amping" basically recording a signal to be sent to a miked amp at a later point. i wouldn't go the plugin route as suggested because i'm just not a fan of them and i have yet to get a realistic sound out of any...

silly question on guitar amp volume

yeah, i wish i had the money and the talent to go to a studio to have someone help me get the most out of my guitar parts, it's pretty daunting trying to do this all on my own with my limited equipment and knowledge. when it comes to getting a servicable sound, i'm fine with that, but i'd like...

silly question on guitar amp volume

well i recently got an m-audio 1010lt so i'm still learning how to use it. i had the mobilepre before and was able to use a knob to change the gain and what not. i've been getting good levels when recording electric at relatively low volumes and with the mic at the grille, so i haven't had to...

silly question on guitar amp volume

This is a pretty basic question, but what volume do people tend to record at for an optimal sound? Since I've lived in an apartment for a long time, I've tended to use 1 or 2 on my marshall 80 watt valvestate. But now that I have a house, I figure I can crank it up a little. I guess that...

any bassists care to record a track for me?

glad you guys seem to enjoy this one. i definitely love it. as for the vibe, hmm. is gritty a sort of mood? this song just feels like it should talk about being on the road, as a wanderer or something. so something bluesy i guess :) hope this made some sense

    Cover Song question...

Just for the heck of it, I checked how much I'd have to pay to cover John lennon's "working class hero" on a min of 500 CD's. total cost is $52.50 not too bad to be on the safe side. if i put together a cd, i'm definitely using that tune :)

any bassists care to record a track for me?

Hi everyone, I have this tune that Ive been looking forward to getting done, but haven't gotten anyone to bite as this one thus far, so I figured I'd share it here in case anyone digs it. http://www.artistcollaboration.com/~philpereira/song1.mp3 this is an acoustic song, basically just...
