you're welcome for the info.
the rnc compressor is a model made by FMR audio. click on the link in my last post and read about it. they make different stuff.
it's a half rack unit so you can put it in your rack, but you would need something to hold it in there, like a half rack mounting unit...
...
hey
i have used a very similar set-up as you, except now i have a mic preamp (tubessence) and i use an RNC compressor. this compressor is widely considered to be the best in its price range ($175) and comparable to $1000 units. everybody that uses them swear by em.
the compressor won't buy...
hey...yeah, actually I'm in soquel! I think we're the only santa cruzans here. great link, thanks!
it's interesting. the people that hate it do seem to be running it in to an amp like a distortion pedal and they want some crunch. I'm not quite looking for crunch. but the reviews are mixed...
it has grabbed my curiosity. any experience out there with this thing? I'm looking for a versatile distortion/pre-amp for guitar and this one seems to be reasonable and in my price range.
anyone?
thanks!
there's always aphex
well, I don't know about meek vs. dbx but I just got an aphex tubessence 107 on ebay for around $200 and I like it. something to consider
well, funny thing...I wasn't even paying attention to what sound card I had. I just assumed it was the one I PAID for when I got my system built recently. turns out I have an ESS in there...not full duplex. I'm think I'm gonna have to raise some hell. thanks dobro.
making the tones different is definitely good advice...I also think not panning hard can work, but I wouldn't say never pan hard. It depends.
Another idea is to divvy up the voicing. If guitar #1 is playing an open E,the 2nd part could play the bar chord at the 7th fret. Plan out the voicing to...
I agree that there are no hard and fast rules, except maybe those things you should never do like have everything panned center, unless you like sounding flat..hey I've heard worse!...
If the rhythm guitars are playing the same thing it will sound good and full to pan them hard left and right...
OK:
First you need to put it on the auto punch clipboard. There are six buttons under the word "preview". You need to assign the punch-in spot and the punch-out spot with the auto punch-in and out buttons (2nd and 3rd buttons from the left). While the song is playing, when you get to the point...
still need help?
yeah, the manual for the FD-8 is pretty lame, but I did decipher the punch-in/out, and now it's second nature. I'll gladly give you the run down if you still need it.
thanks everyone!
keep the comments coming. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who got the internal HD...sounds like one person had trouble. Maybe the 250 zip is the way to go.
hmm, not sure what you're describing. what do you mean by "another layer"? You redo the vocals and you just get more vocals: it doesn't erase the previous take? weird. Here are a couple of things to try:
1) try a different input. You can use any of the four inputs and assign it to any track.
