    String Guage for Hollowbody

Oh, one other thing that should be mentioned: I've heard that some companies use different core sizes for the same gauge strings. This results in different tension levels. For the record, the D'Addarrio flats that I'm currently using are pretty low tension, I can't comment on the Fenders.

    String Guage for Hollowbody

I've got flatwound 11s on my Ibanez 335 copy, and they dont seem to hurt it. You might have to adjust the action a little, but I don't think you'll damage it. Seeing as its got a solid center block, I would think you could put just about anything on there. I've got a friend that runs 13s...

    gibson or epiphone??

Hey Sipi, If I had that kind of money to spend, I'd be looking at Heritage guitars: www.heritageguitar.com They don't say Gibson on 'em, but they are made by ex-Gibson luthiers that didn't want to move when Gibson closed down their Michigan factory. It seems that alot of people that have...

Mixing Cliches (You know, that overdone crap)

Why are Tool fans always so freakin' fanatical? I like them, but it's not revolutionary. They play in odd time signatures, it's really not all that impressive. I personally think that they peaked on Undertow, and are just milking it now.

    Mixer

Hey k4444k, allow me to steer you away from the MXB1002. I bought one about a year ago for the exact same purpose you are describing. What I didn't notice was that the phantom power that it puts out is less than 48v. 28v to be exact. This is not good for condensor mics. Even if you don't...

What's the difference between ATM 25 and AT Pro 25?

This was covered pretty extensively awhile back in this thread: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=42213 Here's what resident mic knowitall (and I say that only because he seems to actually know all of it) Harvey Gerst had to say on the subject: "The Audio Technica AMT25...

    mic'ing standup bass

Keep in mind that I'm pretty much a beginner at this, but I've gotten some pretty decent results out of the Behringer ECM8000 small diaphragm condenser. You can get 'em for $35 just about anywhere. You maybe could substitute your MC012s with the omni capsule? I just wrapped a little masking...

Delta 44 and mixer or Delta omni

Allow me to second Aren about the MXB1002. If you ever plan to use mics requiring phantom power, stay away! The phantom voltage is only 23v, as opposed to the 48v standard. I bought mine without doing enough research, and now I have to buy a new mixer. :( I would really recommend the Omni...

Re: Re: More for me! Okay, I know I said I was leaving, but this is just rediculous. I say "This conversation is a waste of bandwidth, so I'm leaving." And he says "Ho ho, looks like we're getting some bandwidth back!" and he's some kind of fucking comedic genius? You guys are a pair of...

Right...exactly my point. Months ago. And we were probably lucky he happened to log in at the right time to see it. Learn to read. "Within the last couple months" does not equal "months ago". You watch alot of TeeVee dontcha? No, where? Ask a grown up. Sure, and BTW calling me a...

OK, name the last time he did something. Generally, the folks here are pretty well behaved; However, at some point in the last couple months, someone came through here spamming, and RE told them in no uncertain terms to take it somewhere else. Right. That's what I thought. You know where you...

I'd have to say that RE does a pretty good job. Most of the time he is invisible, but when something needs doing, he does it. Maybe people think he is non existant because he doesn't post much. Plus he is from Orangevale, and us Orangevalians have to stick together. Beware the Citrus...

    ecm8000

good to hear - my only problem is that they are so incredibly skinny looking. how the hell are those supposed to fit onto a normal boom stand/mic clip? They come with their own widdow baby mic cwips. They're fucking adorable!

    Question about DELTA 1010

I also have a 1010 running smoothly with the AMD XP1800 and a VIA kt266A based board. If you're really concerned, try to contact MAudio and ask them about your specific motherboard.

    First-time computer builder

You should really stay away from a transistor based computer and go with an all tube model. They have a much warmer sound. I have a UNIVAC, and it rocks! The only drawback is I had to get rid of all my furniture to make room for it. That, and it weighs fourteen tons. If you want a more old...

While I can't speak to the Cakewalk issue, I can tell you that I built a system based on the AMD XP1800 and *gasp* a VIA CHIPSET, and I've had no stability issues whatsoever. I run a Delta 1010 and n-Track for audio purposes. The mobo is an Abit KR7-133, with the VIA 266A chipset. Heat is a...

    Active Bass Pickups?

Matty is correct. The active EQ allows you to boost or cut frequencies instead of just cutting them. Depending on your recording set up, you may want to leave the bass EQ flat. Alot of the mid range basses with active electronics can sound very sterile when you overuse the EQ. I think it's...

Delta 1010 user (is this normal)

I got my 1010 about two months ago. When I hooked it up, I was kind of surprised that it didn't have a power switch, and it just stays on with the computer. I use the same PC for alot of things, and I was concerned about it being on all the time. For the first couple of weeks, it seemed to...
