Real drums - snare in the overhead - help!!

We're not talking about professional tracking here. I'm sure if it were, a lot of snare in the OH would be fine. Each drum had an sm57 (close) pointing down on it and there is a single condenser as the OH behind the drummer to his left a bit; facing down about 30 degrees.

Real drums - snare in the overhead - help!!

Hi all- Trying to get a good snare sound out of the drum tracks and I just can't seem to get the snare where I want it. If I could simply EQ the snare by itself, it would be fine. However, there is too much snare in the overhead and I can't seem to get the "in your face" snap I want on the...

How many people here DON'T use pitch correction in there mixes?

hahaha... The problem is that they invite the worst for the beginning of the season. They just make noises with their mouths. I don't think it can be called singing. Apparently it's good for ratings. Don't get me wrong; I like to hear a singer with good pitch, but I can also really dig a...

How many people here DON'T use pitch correction in there mixes?

I suppose there is a noticeable benefit for bands with vocalists that can meet or beat their recording in a live/intimate live setting. This is where the money is made. Most people don't buy "records" any more.

How many people here DON'T use pitch correction in there mixes?

I can certainly understand the engineer's perspective. I don't do any engineering for other groups at the moment...maybe some day! I suppose my take would be the same; make it sound as good as it can sound and let the band worry about how to translate that to the stage.

How many people here DON'T use pitch correction in there mixes?

One thing that sucks is when the vocalist seems to be impeccable (because of the pitch correction), only to find out at the live show that they really stink.

How many people here DON'T use pitch correction in there mixes?

I think it stinks for vocalists who try hard to have good pitch. People who are aware of pitch correction usually assume it's being used. I don't use it. I suppose I would if the song calls for it.

    Please critique my mix!!

Thanks, TripleM. The gtrs are a bit thin and need some added low end. It's tough to get them fat without stepping on the bass.

I have similar controls in my midi drum application. I'll play with that a bit. Thanks again.

    Please critique my mix!!

Thanks for the feedback, Elton123. I agree about the vocals. I have a version where I've pushed up the vox a bit. Any suggestions for breathing extra life into the midi drums?
