Grove tubes GT33 - this a nice mic, for acoustic instruments, vox etc? Anyone have any experience with it? and is £99 an good price - DV say it was £350? if so that seems a top price and advice would be fantastic! cheers.

right thats interesting - and tricks ? heres what i have in my plan alrealy, - DI acoustic as it would be live - E.Guitar a little louder than i normal record it - Drums as is - Bass I always record DI as the bass amp i have has a real nice XLR DI output - Vox done throu sm57, no pop screen...

yer - as in the ones that are used to give the vox a very distorted sound. I have mixed tracks recored with these mics and loved the sound of the vox, it was actually the backing vox in the verse in this track.

I want one of these for some vocal recording. i love the sound these give. How do you record these - is it a case of re-wiring or what? And were to get one? cheers

Yer same peroblem here, i have a very "hard hitting, funky style!" but i get through strings at a rate too and my strat and tele(less on the tele). Anoys me!

Cheers for that - that was one of the things that got me very interested - minimal micing. Ill definatly give it a go at the next chance i get.

omni means the mic isnt directional, its picks up the sound from all around, hence it being usefull as a room mic. You can get mics that have a switch to change between the different pickup patterns. These can be very usefull mics when it comes to using the mic in lots of different applications...

yer - its know as a "room mic" (god knows why!!!). You can use it to add depth and liven up a recording for sure. Its a commonly used technique.

If you run a compressor through the aux you will also be hearing the uncompressed audio playing aswell as the compressed. I run a compressor in line.
