Ive played the yamaha and line 6 amps (havn't played a cyber twin yet). In my book I think the peavys are much better than the modeling amps. I don't think the modeling amps even replicate SOLID STATE amps very well. If you want a bunch of so-so to decent amps get a modeling amp. If you want...

excellent point tweedville, many solid state amps to sound great when they are taken for what they are and not compared to tube amps.

I have no experience with the Tascam but one of my friends has the Yamaha and the thing major ass. Well except it broke at one point and it took a two months to get it back from the factory, but anyway the thing sounds incredible.

Ive reached the conclusion a long time ago that the only way to get a tube amp sound is with an actual tube amp. Ive played pretty much all of the peavy "fake tube" amps and they all supported my theory.

Well, I don't know how it sounds (and im not about to buy one of the damn things) but in the AMS catalog they have "Armoured Cables" made by Samson. Basically the whole thing is enclosed by a stainless steel sheath. A 10 foot one costs 40 bucks. Seems like it wouldn't break to me.

sorry ypshan, I must be smokin to much crack. The article im talking about isn't in Home Recording after all, it was in the January 2001 issue of Sound On Sound. If you can get a back issue somehow it would be a wise investment, it is a very detailed article. sorry for the confusion Carter
