How to get Sonar5 to work with Tascam FW-1884

For fw-1884 users just go here and install the Sonar Control Surface Driver: http://www.tascam.com/Products/FW1884_downloads.html Then the next time you open Sonar, you'll have the FW-1884 and FE-8 in your control surface list. I've seen a few people advising folk to uninstall/reinstall Sonar...

    Vocals - The Cure/The Killers

hey an excuse to dust off my Cure CDs. I'll take on 4 of their songs, and I'm open to any dissenting opinions. BOYS DON'T CRY: normal reverb (rather than a whispy eq'd reverb with all the bottom extracted) with a good pre-delay setting so that the vocal reverb doesn't run overtop of the vocal...

Recording to laptop from mixer board

you don't have to go whole hog, but do get an external d/a/d converter with like 8 inputs. you might not need them today, but if your church undergoes any growth at all, you'll need it soon. my little brother is the sound man at his church, they've got a mackie 24 channel something or other...

best small fw setup for sonar 4?

just to put my two cents in. I have the Edirol FA-101 which is firewire and it works excellently.

Cakewalk doesn't support my soundcard's midi output but other midi softwares do

once you get past the midi warning thrown by cakewalk, doesn't it ask you if you want to assign midi outs? cakewalk doesn't follow the midi "suggestion" that you select in the OS, you've got to tell cakewalk what midi ports to use.

    US-224 with mixer question!

I thought the point of the us-224 was not needing a mixer separate from your D/A/D. i had the us-428, the only problem i had with it was that it didn't have a pre-amp, but i ran my fmr rnp through it. i can't speak to the quality of the us-224's pre-s, but it would better to get a single/dual...

    Laptop or desktop?

i've been using a laptop exclusively for over a year now. my old DAW is now a web app server. i use firewire to a tascam fw-1884 in the studio room, and a edirol fa-101 when i'm out.

    Sonar2 to Sonar4 file conversion

All it says is SONARPDR.EXE - Application Error The instruction at "0x06b39270" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written". not much to go on, maybe i'll send it to cakewalk anyway.

    Sonar2 to Sonar4 file conversion

i installed sonar4, leaving sonar2 intact. i open one of my existing files.... core dump! so i thought it was sonar4. i uninstalled and reinstalled, updated to the latest patch... core dump! then i attempted creating a new file. recorded some midi tracks, converted them to audio in 88khz...

whats the right digital setup for me?....

there's nothing wrong with pro audio, but cakewalk sonar just feels better. pro audio feals like a midi sequencer with audio thrown in. sonar feels like recording software that does midi well. i've been using cakewalk's main sequencer product for over 10 years. back when cakewalk was the...

    All Recording Software Alike?

I have enjoyed reading this thread, as it has maintained the topic of discussion throughout and I will not accept that it has come to a conclusion. ps. the OP did specifically state "Do different software give different recording qualities" and Dach did a masterful job of bringing that point...

    Annoying Sonar cut/paste feature

There should be a setting in Sonar so that selecting the END of a time block (F10) selects the end point 1 less than the time specified. If i had a nickel for every time i did a paste and the block i copied gets wiped out, i'd be rich. you click on 5:00:00 and hit F9, you slide over to...

    sonar4 track folders question

but can you move the group without having to unpack the folder? it you have a drum mix tucked into a track folder with the volumes assigned to a group, do you have to display the individual tracks in the folder to make the adjustment or can you just assign the track folder to the same group and...

    sonar4 track folders question

thanks for that. that's what i wanted to see... a before and after. i just bought the upgrade. 88.2khz, track folders, sample time stretching, and a sonitus fx update... oh and an alleged improvement in streaming (we'll see about that).

    sonar4 track folders question

once again i am contemplating upgrading to sonar4 from sonar2. at first, it was for 88khz recording, which i've decided isn't a big deal, now its for the track folders. here are my stupid questions: lets say i have 8 tracks of drums that have various panning, volume, eq and compression and i...

Upgrade from Sonar 2 to Sonar3

i think sonar 3 PE has ultrafunk fx. i have ultrafunk R2 and there are some good fx there but if you've got waves, don't worry about sonitus. i'm pretty sure that the track folders stuff wasn't until sonar 4. i'm using sonar 2 as well.
