mixmkr:
i ran the mono signal out of the GR-33 into a regular guitar amp. with the guitar-out/in running into a Steve Vai optical wah pedal.
next practice i'm going to run separate signals.
one into the house (like a keyboard), and the guitar out into the wah pedal and the wah out into...
you gotta have two ipods so you can mix between two concurrent music streams. otherwise, the ipod processor is going to have to be increased to handle dual stereo output.
that's nothing. i'm pumpin a CD of different "mega-mixes" of Eric B. and Rakim (and Ofra Haza) Paid in Full.
This kid (a friend of my brothers) says that they sound too commercial, and they are biting off of Mos Def...
WHAT???
Mos Def using a Rakim lyric is like Hebrews praying to the God of...
i use my laptop for all recording now... via firewire.
i have a tascam fw-1884 for in the studio recording (mixing really), and an edirol fa-01 for 'in the field' recording.
it works well.
Oh, Middleman just brought up a good point -->
my laptop can get hell-a loud occassionally, if it gets hot that fans starts doing overtime. i use to keep my desktop in an adjacent room closet with a smallish hole drilled into the baseboard to pass the KVM cable through.
since i record vocals...
the iGuitar2.13 looks incredible, and i've heard great things about it, but at $2000 its too rich for my kid friendly budget.
i got a call from our lead singer this morning telling me that he and the bass player don't think we need the keyboard player anymore. but they just want to split his...
i'd heard about the tracking issues, and user reviews on harmony central led me to believe that the GR-33 didn't have the same issues.
however,
i did notice a slight time difference between my string hitting the amp and the roland gr33 sound hitting the amp.
no one in the band noticed.
I just got a Roland GR-33 with a GK3 midi interface. I mounted it to my Fender (American) Strat.
It took me a few minutes to get the string adjustment right because my low E string was sitting a tad low and had to be raised and adjusted on the bridge, but otherwise i got it mounted fast...
f*ck that. i'm going to tell you what i've had and what i have now.
I had a 1.2ghz AMD CPU running 512mb RAM and dual HDs that were 10000RPM one for applications and one for audio files. I had a Frontier Design wavecenter PCI card connected to a Tango24 D/A/D with a Mackie 1604 as the pre-amp...
how close to their upgrade season before they start giving free upgrades?
you know what... that doesn't matter. i'd rather have a mature version of S4 than a new version of S5, because i don't want to deal with the first bug-fix cycle... although with S4 only being at 4.0.2 it looks like they...
the problem with the speed vs. accuracy argument is that we will not be reducing bit depth to acquire increased sampling.
initially you had to record at 44.1 - 16bit. now you can record at 96khz - 24bit. you increased volume accuracy and sampling speed concurrently because the D/A/D...
i had a 428 and was able to direct monitor just as you described. i had problems with the unit until i upgraded to the winXP SP1 because the original release had a USB bug that caused problems with recording and playback.
i was using it with Cakewalk Sonar.
after that it was fine.
also...
wow, i had the exact same question.
i just bought a gr-33/gk3 combo and i'm going to use it to record midi into an xv-5080 in the studio, and run it to my amp at gigs.
guess what? i decided to get a Roland GR-33 synth module and the Roland GK3 midi converter instead of upgrading Sonar.
i figured it was more important to get a richer/fuller live sound than to worry about recording in 88.2 in the studio... for now. after all, the studio recordings don't mean...
my first car was a powder blue 1974 AMC Gremlin. the hatch didn't work, reverse didn't work, it had no power steering or power brackes, no air conditioning, and only an AM radio.
perfect car for a 16 year old who can't drive worth a sh**.
i think you made a great choice. i had seriously considered the motu's before i got the fw-1884.
i decided on the fw-1884 because Frontier Design Group was involved in the unit's design and i knew i could trust the unit to work as advertised.
KBlair: bowie is more a subherb of DC than B'more, its about 30 miles south east of B'more and 20 miles east of DC. because it's more-or-less positioned between the two cities, the housing prices are rediculous.
gaotu1978: i can't say that i've ever used the EQ knobs. all the editing...
