yes.
you don't need a 3ghz, 2 gig ram, 400gb hd computer to make recordings
i'm using a nforce1 mobo, XP1700, 512mb DDR2100, and 80gb HD and i've never experienced any slowdown whatsoever running ~30 tracks. could probably way more too.
yeah those 20 gig models are usually like 1000 bucks though, right? like the korgs, fostex, boss, etc.
for $1000 you can get a good enough computer, preamp (DMP3), and soundcard (Delta audiophile, 44, 66) , maybe a mic (sm57).
but yeah for 1000, it might be better to get an all in one...
dude, go Seagate Barracuda IV or V. quietest hard drives ever. DO NOT get 10,000 rpm drives, their loud as hell, and if they aren't loud they have a high pitched noise to them.
go to newegg.com and get it there. you needn't spend 200 bucks on hard drives unless you want like over 200 gigs of...
generally people that were raised "Christian" stay "Christian".
generally people raised, for all practical purposes, atheist stay atheist.
"Christians" annoy me.
the computer has more possibilites for expansion and stuff than a stand alone unit. i just like the fact i don't have to worry about filling up a 256mb card... got like 60 gigs to work with.
the fostex mr-8 is 300 bucks. i was going to get that, but got a computer instead.
if you don't...
buy a sblive at newegg.com. it's only like 35 bucks there.
even if you outgrow it's recording capabilities, you still have a nice soundcard for movies, etc.
the next step up is like the audiophile, and it's 140.
if your soundcard has a "MIC IN", then you're set.
just plug a mic in to that hole, and you're ready to make some crap-quality recordings! :D
if it's just for jamming it should be fine. so you want to solo over the track, is that it?
good luck
i tried the POD 2.0 and V-amp2 together
yeah i wasn't too impressed with the distortion on the V-amp2 in the store through headphones. it just sounded kind of flat. and it's supposed to sound best thru headphones too.
the POD 2's distortion was definitely better, but not by enough to warrant...
i would get the PSA-1, but it's too expensive for me at this stage.
same for the PODXT.
i'm going to the music store today to try out the Tri-A.C. but i want to know how it will sound recorded, not in front of an amp or anything.
i tried the v-amp2 with headphones, and thought the...
debating between Tech21 Tri-a.c. and v-amp2. used mainly for direct recording, occasional jamming through a full stereo system or maybe a SS amp.
thoughts? suggestions?
