Some Samples of Commonly used AT mics...

wow... they all sound the same to me. amazingly quiet with no coloration whatsoever. I uhh... don't know the password thing, so I can't hear them at all  Since I have an AT4050, I know what it sounds like.... good. very good.

    Audio Technica AT4050

Take a listen to any tune on my last CD except "Welcome Home". They were recorded with a AT4050. this is an excellent mic. "Welcome Home" was the new neumann TLM149.

    "Fat" channel for 2k

Even though the picture on my website is of me playing a Carter, I am now playing "Rains" pedal steels. I've got an Emmons too, but I rarely play it. thanks for the welcome.

    "Fat" channel for 2k

It is a quite versatile pre. It is an all tube path and ads a nice tube shimmer. A lot of folks are strapping it across the stereo mix down bus.

Here is another vote for the AT4050. This is a darned good mic.

    Onyx mixers with automated faders?

Why do you want automated faders? Doesn't your software do this for you? If you want an automated control surface, check out the Mackie control.

    Sonar v.s ProTools

Hmm... I've got 3 and 5PE. I really like 5. Perfect Space is worth the upgrade by itself. I also believe that the 64 bit computations yields a more accurate final result. I didn't say I can hear it... just that I believe it.

Which audio interface for Sonar 5?

An update... I did get the Mackie 400F and my Firepod came back fixed. I have used both but at this point have stopped using the firepod. Why? ... The conversion quality in the Mackie is audibly better. The sound is just better to my ears. The preamps in the Onyx are actually pretty good too...

    Problem exporting to MP3

I like to save stuff as wav files. No other reason.....

    Sonar v.s ProTools

Are you familiar with FX Express? This is a software that uses LAN and satellite computers to achieve this power. It's really pretty cool. You can dedicate a separate computer just for effects and another for soft synths. I know of some folks using up to 6 computers in this fashion. Computers...

Any ex-Sonar 2.2 users out there?

I still have 2.2. Of course, I also have 3, 4, and 5PE. We are at the end of the cycle for 5PE. Sonar 6 will be out most likely in October. I really like 5. 5PE is worth it just for the convolution reverb and the soft synths included. Sonar 5PE will be discounted pretty heavily soon.

Hmm... tell us about your computer. I use far more than that with no problems.

    Problem exporting to MP3

I convert to wav, export to WMA and let windows media convert it. Works great.

    Sonar v.s ProTools

I don't think so. It is more about the converters and interface for each. The software programs themselves really don't have a "sound". I like Sonar because it is open. I don't have to buy their hardware to use it. The midi capabilities are sterling and the audio program is excellent.

    Sonar v.s ProTools

Jeez... of course not. That' silly. Listen, I have nothing against protools. A friend of mine has a nice protools system. He just recorded a hit album on it. It most certainly cost much closer to $100k. It's based around the Icon. I just looked at an install here. I decided that what I have...
