    Blessings We Don't Have

As to the mixing contest... I'm not sure it would be all that beneficial as the drums are just one stereo track.

    Blessings We Don't Have

I'll check that tonite... I think I did put one on there but had problems because it is not a discrete kick.. :P

    Blessings We Don't Have

thank you David... You are the third person to comment on that general area. I think that this may be an inherent problem for me that is related to HF hearing loss. ...... if only I had some fiddle! (I play fiddle too, but so poorly as to make grown men cry:o)

    Blessings We Don't Have

 No takers? Is it the genre? Perhaps you are not familiar with the Honky tonkin, Christ loving, Small town redneck genre? ;) All comments welcome. Mix, production, song, performance, etc... stay tuned... next week will be "Led Zepplin plays all the Gospel hits". :p

    Moonburn - comments appreciated

Joseph, Without the words it is difficult... I don't really hear a cohesive melody. There is a very unsettling pulse/stutter between each bar in the entire song. It almost sounds like loops that are not crossfaded properly. I would like to hear this when you add the vocals. Steve

    Adagio

David... Needs more cowbell;) Seriously.... this is exquisite. It made me stop what I am doing and just sit in rapt enjoyment. Thank you for the transcending moment...

    Death before dishonor again

Jay... nice tune. I was a medic in Vietnam. The keyboard patch at the start is a tad too loud. Guitar... played well. Too much distortion for me however. Just back off a tiny bit. Vocals.... perfect for this. I'm not crazy about your reverb, but that is a personal taste. All in all...

    Please Review this Mix

Yes... the snare is way too boingy sounding. That can be tightened up with some eq and compression. The guitar sounds nice... good mix.

A Theme for your Departure (instrumental Rock)

I really like this piece. The abrupt ending is a tad unusual! The guitar harmonies are quite nice. The only nitpick I have is the snare sound. It's just too boingy/open for my taste. All in all, a very nice recording and tune. Thanks for sharing.

    Blessings We Don't Have

I have a song at my website titled Blessings We Don't Have that I would appreciate any input on. Steve Stallings Songs The song will start automatically. You can also check out my studio in my pics if you want. I do all of this in my home studio by myself. My studio is ~17x27 and is a nice...

Check out this mix for me guys

Hmm.. you have quite a website. This is your first tune? Your site looks like you have been at this quite a while, with over 300o Friends! Ok.. bear in mind that I'm an oooolllldddd man. I kind of remember the 70's. Black Sabbath was young then too.;) The song has some gothic type elements...

    The Broken Song Sessions--w/ link!

My... This was recorded in a studio? The songs and singing are good. The recording is uhmm... not so hot. Eq and levels are all over the place. The mixes sound very one dimensional with no real stereo field. I can hear ambient noise (chairs creaking/ movement) in the background on one of the...

    Just Piano and Vocals....

I think she is quite good with some real potential. As noted, she has some slight trailing off at the higher registers. The recording.. The piano is far too loud for the singer. Additionally, you need to rein in some of the low end. Thanks for sharing...:)

    Xeries 1 - A love song

This is a quite unique tune... For some reason it reminds me of some early 70's FM rock... You know, the kind of spacy, jazzed out stuff that sometimes was played. OF course, I am a Jethro Tull fan, so I love the flute. Ok... the bass needs some compression... especially at the start. That is...

New Song. Looking for some critique.

Concept... good. Mix... not so good. First... is it just me or the guitar out of tune or having some weird intonation problems. The drums are played ok, with some minor meter issues, but the recording is pretty lifeless. New heads... tuned correctly... pay attention to the drums.. Stereo...

    Remix of an old song

I really really like this mix... The only thing I would do if I mastered it, is expand the stereo field slightly. Regardless, this is excellent.

    Lady Policeman

I just downloaded the mp3 and made a few tweaks... Listening on the NS10's and the ATH-M50's your mix sounds really good. I think you might like the tweaks I did...:) I can email you the MP3.

    Lady Policeman

Ok.. Isolate your kick and experiment with this. Throw a low pass filter on it at around 300. You don't want the higher freqency information. This is something that Shane Wilson goes over on his DVD. (Guide to Mixing) As to the EMT... I meant a 2.8 second decay The actual setting I like a...

    Lady Policeman

Very nice tune... Overall, I like the mix but will listen on my NS10's and my AT-HP50's when I get back to my studio tonight. Listening on some AKG phones, I'm thinking the kick needs a couple of things. 1.. Put a lowpass filter on it for everything over about 300. 2.. Perhaps you could run it...

    Acoustic Guitar Wanking

I like the performance and the overall feel of the piece. The atonal harmony at around 2:08 adds a charming hint of the far east. I would have eq'd this a bit different however. I feel that there is a bit of mid to high end hype that makes the guitar sound thinner than it actually sounds. Of...
