Really, I think this is quite good for your entry intro recording. Try some gentle compression on the drums and ad a small amount of room verb. I'm not familiar with Reaper so I don't know what tools you have. Hang in there.. you are doing great.

You actually might be a lot better off using your tom mics as overheads rather than toms. Then pan them in different directions 70-80%.
