i made this when i was drunk

Well... perhaps you should talk to AA? :drunk: I think the intro is far too long. Very avante garde approach. Some of this reminds me of John Lennons' Plastic Ono band period. enjoyed it.

    New Original! Looking for thoughts/advice!

I thought the levels were overall pretty good. The song would be dramatically improved with a real bass I think. One think that helps to give a mix more "air" is exactly that.... air. I like to record bass parts with a direct feed and an ambient mic. Guitars seem to open up when you actually...

Ancient Machines - VHS borrows audio to cover a song that heavily borrows Lovecraft

Interesting... I'm listening on some in ears. I would have mixed the vocals a bit differently, but that is just taste. I'm an old fart, so ymmv. :)

My first rock song in years....

Here is my newest project from my home studio. The song is "Sorrow", and is written for someone I love who is struggling to find their way in life. I've mixed feelings about the two instances of delay I use on the chorus. The first one sounds ok to me but the second...??? I am playing...

    My Martin D-15

I'm a bit partial to Martins myself... (I started a little guitar forum for Martin guitars a few years back www.umgf.com ). My fave is my D35. Stunning... I use it on all of my recordings, though sometimes I use a D18 too.

Excellent guitar technique. Is there such a genre as "Life Metal" :D

First raw recording - what next?

Really, I think this is quite good for your entry intro recording. Try some gentle compression on the drums and ad a small amount of room verb. I'm not familiar with Reaper so I don't know what tools you have. Hang in there.. you are doing great.

    80's metal ballad - updated

Howdy fellow Texan... The guitar playing is stellar. I'm not liking the drums as well. They sound pretty compressed to me. Overall gooooood! Hissing? what hissing? uh oh... I've got the same problem with HF hearing.:D

Best Mix i think ive ever done. Metal, check it out and comment please.

Well, this has potential. The song sounds squashed to death with compression though. This makes the drums sound like your are tapping on a cardboard box or something. Is there a bass somewhere in the mix? The playing is good. I stopped listening to metal for the most part back in the 70's, so...

    Running Away - Original Mix

This is really really good. I really think you are one talented fellow. My only nitpicks now: The vocal in the verse needs the tiniest bit of boost in volume. (Tiny) The interlude with the acoustic... hmm. Something there sounds not quite up to the standards of the remainder of the tune. I...

    The Lost Memory Waltz

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I remixed this tonite, and completely remastered it. I removed much of the HF overhype, removed the panned right acoustic, slightly increased the reverb on the vocal only. I went in and added some tape saturation with Voxengo varisat and also used...

new release - this is Earth

Needs more pedal steel.. :D Seriously, this is so far away from my genre that I don't quite know what to make of it. It sounds... uhmm, electronic! ;)

Did I do a good job? Listen and tell me.

You actually might be a lot better off using your tom mics as overheads rather than toms. Then pan them in different directions 70-80%.

The piano should not be centered at all.

Mr. Moto - surf rock instrumental

LOL... John is just getting finishing his studio just out past the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. He's the production manager over at Hafer Flight Case in Rosenburg. The bass player from the Barons and Chance is Billy Hafer, the owner. They both were in the "Barons" for years and then with...

Mr. Moto - surf rock instrumental

Whoa!! I've gotta try that!;) I just spent some time revisiting this. This is just flat good. I listened to "Jingle Bells" too. Are those your kids? Sounds like fun... Hey... the keyboard player I work with in "Nightshift" is from Katy. His name is Rollie Cardner. Also, the lead guitarist is...
