The fact that you move the bass to track 3 and working ok seems to point to head wear,as the tape will wear a groove in the head and the tape can skew in and out of that groove causing the levels to fade in and out.

The JV-1010 used the SR-JV-80 series of expansion cards.Search on Ebay.The best are the 60/70's card and the Vintage Synth cards.

Making a copy of the test tape will not work.The playback-MRL- alignment tapes are made "full track width". This means there is only one track on any MRL up to 2",and the phase-head azimuth- is the same across all tracks.You can't duplicate that with a multi track head.
