    Remote Control/ high pitched sounds

The remote has a processor in it powered by the 238. There are two grounds in the remote: chassis ground on pin 8 and a power supply ground on pin 5 in the cable. Lift pin 8 to isolate chassis ground from everything else in your system.

Using free craigslist glass for studio windows

Craigslist always has cubicle dividers in the free section. 4-6 feet high. Put em around the drummer to turn him down. He's quieter, everyone else can turn down-and you can hear the vocals.

    Tascam accessory cable

You can control basic transport functions through one of the acces.connectors on the back if the Rc-848-I don't remember which one,but the RC-848 manual would tell you, and the acces. connector on the MSR-16. You would still have to fabricate a cable...

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

The card swap is a good idea-any way to further isolate the problem will save you money. If you are going to go the re-lap route,be aware after you get the heads back, the 388 will need a complete recal. It includes tape tension adjustments, head alignment, playback alignment with a playback...

The tape skewing in and out of the worn groove during the record process could cause it to appear to be on the record side. Is the low output a solid level or is it fluctuating? The pictures you posted show that the head is badly worn, guides and tape lifters are worn. All will cause tape edge...

    Tascam MS-16 Problems

The trim pots under that little panel are not used to set tensions. Per the manual, they are used to set the initial tension arm positions. The tension is set by the position of the spring terminator under the faceplate. Messing with the adjustments under the panel can just screw things up...

4 buss mixer with 8 track recorder - how do i connect these?

The program outs MAY work, but you would still not be able to drive the Da-98 up to 0VU-,8 volts vs.1.23 volts, and I believe the "trims' only work with the mic inputs. But it wouldn't hurt to try.

4 buss mixer with 8 track recorder - how do i connect these?

The problem you are going to run into is the buss outs on the M-208 are -10dbV,(316mv),unbalanced,while the DA-98 is a +4dbM,(1.23 V),balanced. You would be underdriving the DA-98-couldn't reach 0VU.Also returning the output of the DA-98 would overdrive the line/tape inputs of the M-208.What you...

    Late arriving Musicians

Having been on both sides of the situation,I have seen bands that show up late expressly to screw with the first band, take their time getting off the stage after soundchecking so that the first band has to set up after the doors have opened, and OTOH seeing the sound guy make the other bands...

The 30 series-32/34/38 were notorious for bad solder joints on the motherboard. The only way to fix reliably is to take your 38 apart and resolder every solder joint.
