    Tascam 388 Story...

As I suggested make a short audio cable with the shield lifted at one end. Find one of the devices that hums, plug it in and see if the hum goes away. Isolate everything in the rack with plastic washers and don't let the chassis touch each other. When I was doing some tech work- time code...

    Tascam 388 Story...

Reading his last few comments, he still hasn't connected his effects one at a time to see if one of them- or more- have ground loop problems. If he isolates it to one or more, he could still lift the ground at one end of the cables to see if it makes a difference, or make a bunch of female to...

    Tascam 388 Story...

Reading what he said about some devices adding noise as he plugs them in tells me there might be a ground loop happening in the patchbay between some of the devices, especially if they are in a metal rack with all the chassis grounds tied together through the metal rack. Removing all of them...

    Tascam MS-16 Channel 8 Crackling/popping problems

Could be a mute transistor on one of the channel cards coupling noise to all channels- had it happen on a MS-16- or noise on the mute signal.

    Tascam 388 Story...

Sounds like you have a ground loop with the devices you have plugged into 1.3.8. Plug them in one at a time without the patchbay. Hum yes or no?

    234 - 424 compatibility

Heads have the same track spacing- compatible P/N- but don't know about the routing to get 4 individual tracks from the 424. You could transfer two tracks at a time- L/R outs- then nudge tracks in the DAW until they line up.

Anyone understand DAT machines??? (Tech question)

Teac specified " clean lint free cloth" - they used something from Japan called Minmax, a tightly woven plastic cloth- feels like silk- with 91% IPA or denatured.. No rubbing alcohol @70 % with added Lanolin, no head cleaner- the heads are resin-, no foam swabs, no texwipes, as they can snag...

    Tascam parts

I cannot guarantee the card is 100% functional as I cannot test it, even though it was working when removed from the 388. As I had said in the auction, it is sold as-is. I wish I could test it but I can't. I don't want you to believe it will be a "plug and play " repair. I used to work on the...

    M3500 & MSR-16 Noise

Early M3500 mixers had a ground loop problem on the I/O Jack pcbs. To see if your M3500 has the mods., remove one of the plates over the I/O jack pcbs -top rear. If there is a copper braided wire running through holes in all the Jack pcbs and tied to ground, the mod has been done.
