If it's any consolation, I've wanted to record with my iPad as well.
IK Multimedia has their products. Seems like the Alesis iO dock and iO Mix are the most useful ways to approach this, for now.
Not really sold on GarageBand, though it's neat to play with. Auria is coming out with a DAW for...
I have a number of the EZX Expansion Packs. They're most affordable (for me) when audiomidi.com runs a special on them. You can purchase the downloadable version for $39.99 and just download it once you receive your order confirmation.
I'm a huge fan of the sounds of the Jazz and Nashville...
Sat down and recorded a cover tonight with just the Pre73 and a Shure SM7b.
I am very pleased. :)

No effects or EQ on any particular track. Volume adjustment, panning, and minor volume automation on the separate tracks.

A good preamp should help accomplish this, regardless of tube or solid state. I used to play some of fingerstyle in that vein of music, so I understand entirely. Seems like you'll end up wanting to lessen the attack of your thumbpick for that "pat".
My ISA One does great with this kind of...
I'll have to pass on that, unfortunately.
I have an older Behringer 2642A mixer (used for recording), and a Behringer 1204 mixer (used occasionally for smaller gigs), and one of the little Xenyx 802 mixers (used for routing to the loop pedal on some gigs).
Is there anything else you would be...
+1 on Reaper. It's a great program. Very affordable, very capable, and good forum support.
You can download the entire program and try it for free. At $60.00, it's far less expensive than other recording software. Here is the link...

I just scored a used Golden Age Projects Pre73 mk I for $235.00 (shipped).
Not a tube preamp, but a fairly-priced quality preamp that's discussed on different forums and in different circles in a rather favorable manner. Certainly worth looking in to, IMHO.
I have a Yamaha Audiogram 6 sitting around doing nothing. It shows two inputs, but to my knowledge will only record one at a time. However, it was pretty solid and worked well as my first USB interface.
$50.00 (shipped) works for me. Here's a link...

I can't say I've used the AT 2035. I do have the AT 4033 and AT 4040, and I like them.
I do have a couple of V67g's, though (bought used, of course). I loaned them to a friend for some solo acoustic stuff he did at home, and his recordings sounded great.
Good to know. Thanks for weighing in.
I'm still using a Beta 58 on my vocals live, but I've been using a Sennheiser e609 as my guitar mic for awhile. Seems to do well enough for live use.
What do you use in place of that for guitar or vocal mics on stage, Bob?
(just curious...never hurts to ask those that might have been around the block once or twice...)
I have the ISA One, and it is absolutely outstanding. Other than that, I've got a couple of DMP3's and Tube MP's. I had been really curious about the Pre73, and I found a used one at a good price. I'm looking forward to this.
Yeah, I saw those. It would be interesting to try if one or both came up for sale. I ended up with an RNC recently, so I'm itching to try them together, too.
Confirmed the order just a few minutes ago. Looking forward to this. :)
