Lots of details to work out, hinging on the OP being agreeable. Step one though must surely be having the OP return to the thread ;)
This would both free up some space in my house and, hopefully, get me enough parts to make my M3700 live on forever!
Fingers Crossed!
Hmm,
We might be able to make this work...
Miroslav, I'm about 4 and half hours from you up here in NH (assuming you're in the town your website says you are) and I have an empty spare 32 channel M3500 chassis.
If we can get the M3700 stripped and shipped for a reasonable cost we can meet in...
I've been watching one not sell for $1,075 on ebay for months. The value of the board varies greatly. If no one around you wants one.. it's nearly worthless. If someone close by wants one you might be able to get up near $1000, but it's not likely. They are great units but not worth much today...
That is a great price! If the remote is good, I wouldn't worry about the button on the TSR-8. I never touch it. It's much easier to keep the remote right next to me and operate the machine that way then it is to keep reaching for the deck.
Nice find!
Hard to say really. It could be just a bad switch or it could be a loose wire. I would wager the cost to repair it would be minimal. To me, a 'super' price for a TSR-8 in good shape would be anything under $300.
What actually happens when you press top? Does the machine try to stop but fails...
Hmm. Now I'm curious too. He relayed the information to me verbally so it's possible I missed the point...
As I understand it, the ground coming off the PSU PCB is to be used if I get a ground loop when using rack gear with the board. Basically, if my ground wiring isn't great 'in the walls'...
The M3700 is Alive!
I picked up the Power supply this past Saturday, plugged it in and voila! It's working normally.. so far at least :)
Couple of things to note for anyone running into similar problems at some point. Firstly, the power supply wasn't 'broken' per say. The tech did not replace...
Came across a really clean (looking) Otari MX-70 1" 16 track machine at a local shop. I've been reading the posts on the forum here and elsewhere and I'm wondering if I should purse it.
I spoke briefly to the guy that owns the shop to find out what he was doing with the machine and what it's...
I'm looking forward to reading all about your process. I would love to see some shots of your setup as well. This is going to be great!
In speaking with the guy who will be cutting the vinyl, has he said you need all this gear? I would guess the process of putting the low end in mono and the...
I've never been a big fan of the 160S or 160SL but I'm sure it has it's following. I was really surprised to see it sitting 1U off the floor though :) Like it or not it's still expensive! It was a great place to visit but I'm glad it's slightly more than an hour away.. otherwise I'd be there...
Professional Help!
The local electronics guy didn't seem to knowledgeable about the world of 'Pro' audio gear so I passed on having him take a look at my power supply. Then, just by chance, I was reading a post over at Gearslutz about a guy who had a pre-amp modified by some place called...
For what it's worth, I've been using an Alesis MultiMix 12R for years and I'm very happy with it. Surprisingly versatile and having the linear faders is great. It's been a dependable workhorse as a way to route extra sources into my main mixing board and a place to submix tracks coming off my...
The Reverb 6000 is a killer reverb unit common in high end studios. It's very powerful and versatile, esp when mixing on an analog desk. That being said.. it's often called 'The Poor Man's 960', referring to Lexicon's 960L flagship reverb processor, which makes the System 6000 look tiny in...
Just a quick update:
The M3700 project is still happening but it's had to take a back seat to a few other things going on. I won't get into a lot of detail but having my house burglarized wasn't a lot of fun, not is it the most pressing issue I've been dealing... Not to worry though the...
jpmorris, that image may not help jhawk4566 but I liked it :)
It looks like the bottom 6U of the tape machine rack are DBX 900 series enclosures for noise reduction. jhawk4566, does your unit have those? If not the 410-411 modules, which it says were an option on the machine, are not too rare...
What's The Goal?
Why are you looking to upgrade? What are you trying to accomplish? Is this for the studio or live? How do you use the board? Pre-amps to a computer? Pre-amps to a tape machine? Will you mix through this board? Do you have any outboard gear?
That being said, I would skip the...
This is going to be a great one! I can't wait for more! Perhaps for posterity you can shoot detailed images of channel strip sections and the master section. Such a cool looking board! Nice find and good luck on the refurb :)
