We already had the QU so we went with that for the moment due to budget restraints. I will be doing a mod to the Akai to supply phase reverse and 48v per channel soon so we can use any type of mic. Got it all worked out.

I am designing my Akai MG1214 into my new studio desk design. The other console is the Allan & Heath QU24. I have removed the palm rest and relocated the front plugs to the rear. Should be a sweet analogue option for clients.

Go to page 48 which is titled Mecha Block. You will see a part number 1-4( It's actually called a Holder idler Part) That has the square rubber wheel around it and it is probably rock-hard. Look up to the top right of that same page and notice the pressed metal cover. It is black and you can see...

I guess you could try joining the two buttons as long as you pressed in the middle of the bar and not the side in case you trigger one and not the other. Great job putting it all together!

Well done! Have you tried the record function? It only uses one button so the operation of pausing is by the same button. I guess the Akai just alternates the command with each press, try it. When you press the RECORD/PAUSE button it puts it into record standby mode. Then when you press PLAY...

I would use a double gang push button for the stop. I don't think it would be wise to permanently join number 5 & 6 together on one pole of the button and the shield on the other pole. These wires are not joined until they are joined by the action of pressing the stop button for that half...

Remote plug wiring diagram - Akai RC-X3 Hi J This will help you. This is the wiring diagram of the actual 8 pin plug. Note that pin 7 is not used. The stop function connects pin 5 & 6 to the sleeve shield wire so use a double gang momentary button for this (I think this is the right...

Tape Speed Quote from J.Harv "The only thing I have noticed is the rewind is a little slow. And I discovered if I move the tape tensioner over, the rewind speeds up a little. At the end of the tensioner is the brake strap that goes around the reel table. So by moving the tensioner, it loosens...

Here is the original Akai RC-X3 Remote Control Unit. The lead is actually 4m long. When I first got this it did not work and all I had to do was re-solder some wires and everything worked nicely. Here is the inside view.. Here is the wiring diagram I found.... This is the back...

Yes that is correct. Have you got a users manual? Akai has a free download on their website under ... MG1212 : Akai Professional - Iconic music production gear, including the legendary MPC This is basically for the Akai MG1212 model but is mostly the same instructions as for the Akai MG1214...

I'm not near the Akai at the moment but if the counter is stopping and restarting it is usually because the outer control track on the tape that has the counter info on is corrupted or has drop outs in the tape. You can mostly fix this by rewinding it and putting a new control track on it. This...

No I don't but I have the wired remote. You could probably make your own wired remote. After all a wired remote is really only tapping into the actual buttons and switches, kinda like an extension cord from the actual switch, say play button, that you press and actuate. In the service manual it...

Yes the chassis is identical. Most parts can be used in either. Obviously the channel strip is different due to the different faders and upgraded pre amps. I have actually used parts from my Mg1212 and put into the Mg1214 If you have the workshop service manual you can check before you...
