Audio interface - wasted on someone without enough knowledge?

Worthy man. You are only looking for clean preamps and DA conversion. That UM2 will completely suffice for what you are doing. @ 24 bit, there really is not a noise floor issue for what I presume you are looking to do. No need to get into high end audio at this point. Let us know how it goes...

Audio interface - wasted on someone without enough knowledge?

Basically any audio interface does the same basic thing. Inputs and outputs depending on your needs is the first consideration you need to decide upon. And obvioulsy you need one with phantom power for the Rode NT1. So you seem to already have done the research and have good options. On a...

Don't Leave me Alone song and mix feedback

I also like the tune. My only nit is with the snare drum. It sounds like the life is sucked out of it somehow. The attack is sucked back way too much. Otherwise, I dig it man!

    Def Leppard Drum Cover

I am curious how well the Moises.ai software works. Would you please post the returned sample by them with the drums removed? Just the mix of the track you got back without drums before you played on it. Again, It seems you have a really good sounding room and are a solid drummer. Props! I...

WIDER SOUND With Simply TRICKS (5 techniques)

Space, the final frontier.... It is common for people to think that width is a good thing. We as old guy remember the 'spacial' button on boom boxes. For year I tried to achieve that sound. Well, it was just a muse on a particular device. The hass effect can be used in moderation, but I have...

Sometimes plugins just don't work well with some host DAWs. . There are likely better anyway. Delete it.

Would you say you need to go to college/university in order to make good music?

It seems to me someone should of asked at least the genre or scope of what the OP meant by his post. I'm just going to guess it was making beats, and he has likely either made some or moved on by now... While we are necromancing an old thread, I will say that I have had no formal training. But...

How do I make a headset mic line level?

You need a simple interface, a lapel or headset mic, and some shitty headphones will do. Looking at maybe 300 bucks for entry level stuff. Don't stress over 100000000000000000000000000000000 cost. You just have to get what will work for you and your needs. You will never make a USB gaming...

    Recording Heavy Guitars; Crackling Noise

Upload a clip for sure. Do you have a 57 sitting around? I have never had any luck with heavy guitars and condenser mics. 421, 57, and maybe a ribbon for room sound. Never a LDC. The frequency range of a high gain amped guitar just doesn't need the sensitivity of a condenser mic.

General tips on how you improved the most at producing, overall?

+1 to Pinky's post! I will add that not mixing at high volumes is something many ignore and that I had to learn. Listening at almost barely audible volume is a great way to hear things you miss when at higher volumes. Oh, and reverb is your enemy if not used in small amounts. Less is more.
