QY100 sequencer:need better sound quality; don't wish to write on computer.Help!

Answer Dogbreath's question. What is it you want to do? Why don't you want to use your computer? Pro Tools is a sequencer, and much more. Is it the portability of the QY100 that you like, so you can write and record music while out at a coffee shop? Are you looking for a new synth, with...

    let me see your studio!

Discovered Like, I just discovered this Recording Studio and at the same time, have to admit I've never seen a website nor place filled with quite the eye candy as this studio. I'm posting 5 photos from their site that might catch the atmosphere, but go to their website yourself and browse the...

MIDI issues on keyboard and sound module

Are you talking about an A/B that routes which sound module is going to your amplifier? That's the only thing you could be referinng to, but why spend for that when you don't have to? Then, furthermore, that would be a hindrance to you when you did in fact want both sound modules playing at...

Why won't Sonar 3.0 save certain edited information in some GM files?

I figured it out. They were GM Type 0 files. When I converted to Type 1, then all the labels I had edited for Track names got saved, whereas before, as Type 0 GM, the edited names were not being saved.

MIDI issues on keyboard and sound module

The Korg K61P has 24 onboard sounds in it. To hear them, all you need to do is plug your headphones into the headphone Out jack, or connect 1/4" cables from the stereo Outs of your Korg to your amplifier. You'll then hear the Korg's sounds, regardless of whether or not the Roland is turned on...

Your Favorite Workstation/PC or Mac Doesn't Match up to this Workstation, here's why

c7sus wrote: "Similar to the Neko's and Meko's of the past, but this is our last stop and here's why..." This is why folks think you're a spammer POS that works for Open Labs. Interesting. Good, astute observation.

Your Favorite Workstation/PC or Mac Doesn't Match up to this Workstation, here's why

No, this is really not true. You cannot copy all your keyboards into it as stated. The process of "copy and learn" is far over-hyped, and rather untrue. Allow me to explain: When I bought Oberheim and Moog patches for my Kurzweil (when I was younger and naive), I did not really understand...

Your Favorite Workstation/PC or Mac Doesn't Match up to this Workstation, here's why

While your original post was a bit over the top, I agree that it would be interesting to hear critique's and ideas about the schema (at least a couple posters did comment as much). I just recently watched a couple of Youtube presentations on Open Labs keyboards. All I can say at this point is...

Help with my ALESIS SR16 drum machine and pro tools

Sorry I cannot answer you, as I have never owned Pro Tools and do not know what things are packaged with it. Try the Pro Tools Forum on here. They should have your answers for you. Drum channel is only important if your are working with General MIDI (GM). Most people do not use GM anymore so...

Help with my ALESIS SR16 drum machine and pro tools

You have 2 or 3 options, depending upon exactly what you desire: 1) Start by recording your Alesis sounds into Pro Tools, in an audio track. Just like you would a normal tape recorder. To do so, you have to set up your Pro Tools Track to record in Audio. And of course, the drum machine will...

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

I found a site, I believe, that has keyboard parts, especially the keyweights that have been being discussed. I have not called it yet to verify their current status, but this seems to be a good find. They list most every conceiveable part for all the name brand manufacturers: Instrumental...

    looking for midi instrument

Firstoff, this thread should really be in the Keyboards and Sound Modules thread. The 1st song and 2nd are slightly different, but I understand why he (the OP) thinks they are the same. I have recreated both sounds by adjusting these settings on my Virtual Analog synth: There are 3...

    MIDI newb, please help

Scott, I just googled your device and got to the Behrenger website. Unfortunately, they don't have any of their owner's manuals online. I was going to find the specific information and page you need to help you figure out how to program pedals 1, 2, and 10 the way you wish. According to...

    Community Equipment Rental/Exchange

And Paypal makes this possible nowadays. As a keyboardist, I offer to rent my time and services for your tracks that require something more. As a creative synthesist programmer, I create sounds that give a song that something it's missing, and as a player/arranger can add some creative riffs...

    16 vs. 24 bit

I've wondered: Would an MP3 made of a 24 bit/96 khz recording sound as good, better, or worse than the wave file of a 16 bit/44.1 khz (CD quality)?

Can anyone recommend a keyboard that one can travel with?

You really ought to be able to figure this one out on your own. You seem to already know enough about keyboards and portable controllers (which roll-up keyboard do you own now?). Do you want a keyboard with sounds already in it, or are you going to control the sounds on your laptop computer's...

Help: Ensoniq SQ-R sustain not working

Global setting I don't know your gear, but they all follow the same general formula. Because there are 3 or 4 different types of pedals. On/Off switches, otherwise known as Sustain pedals made by various manufacturers, you have to set the global setting for the Sustain pedal to one of the...

Can anyone recommend a Digital Piano?

Casio Privias (a few different types of models out there) are actually quite good sounding, and run from $500 to a $1000, new. Their keyboard feel is actually quite good and the piano sound is also. The additional sounds they bundle on them are not great, though, in my opinion. As far as...

EPS and SCSI---I'm having trouble here.

Jeff, It matters. First, I don't remember the EPS, but nevertheless, if it supported SCSI hard drives, then it would have been either an internal ribbon that it connected to (and all you need to do is buy a larger SCSI hard drive of the same type of SCSI connection), or if it has a SCSI port...
