Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

If you have the opportunity, post a few pics of your keyboard taken apart, up close. The rubber contacts definitely should NOT be lubricated. If you go back to Page 1 of this thread, you'll see my photos of rubber contacts and how to work with them. I told you my red felts seemed sticky, so...

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

Sorry I don't know the answers to either of your questions, but the rod problem seems easiest to fix. Try hobbies and crafts stores. They're full of this kind of stuff. Take your cut out piece with you to compare diameters of metal rods. Even if you're unsuccessful at that, you could think...

Synth module for Piano and Organ

I think we need a little more info. from you. Do you have a MIDI controller keyboard now? Are you a musician? Do you have a DAW software (i.e. Sonar, Cubase, ProTools, Garageband)? What are your computer's specs and what platform are you running? How do you normally make music?

Trying to find website that displayed the curve for K2500 or K2600 FUNs

Years ago, there was a website where you could recreate the Math curve for Kurzweil FUNs, and it was incredible. I lost the website. It was an exact replica of the FUN screen editor, except after selecting your input options (A and B), it would then show you the mathematical curve (or graph)...

Help connecting MIDI controller, MIDI module and interface?

Ok, so now what you are asking is if you can use the Edirol's built-in sounds, without resorting to using it as the link in the MIDI chain, and I think the answer to that is "Yes and No". Only because you still have to let Cubase talk to the Edirol's programming somehow, and the means to do...

Help connecting MIDI controller, MIDI module and interface?

How have you been using your MIDI controller if it's not hooked up via MIDI ? I'll wait on that one. Meanwhile,.... Just hook up your SD-20 to your computer using the USB ports/cable. Connect your MIDI controller to the SD-20 with a MIDI cable (from controller's OUT to SD-20's IN). In your...

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

Heya John, Yeah, I do not like taking it apart and all. I get better at it each time, but it's still a feat. Regarding Patch 771, what you describe is normal. Mine does it too. Starting at G6 those notes sound like they have more reverb on them (or more sustain). Of course, you can change...

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

Everything's back together, and plays perfectly. It wasn't that dirty, but I gave it a good overall cleaning. The touch feels better, like brand new. The 3 notes that were fixed, play perfect, and were relocated to the outer extreme ends of the keyboard, just as insurance.

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

Key bed weights Ok, so I took it all apart again to fix 3 key weights that I knew for certain were giving me issue, and to do maintenance on all the weights, based on JaydeeMtl's (John) recommendations. The good news was that I did not have any broken weights. Instead I had 3 of those plastic...

    Midi sequencer or keyboard

You definitely need a MIDI controller. There are a bunch to choose from and your budget will cover it. When you hook up your MIDI controller, you will be able to take advantage of the wealth of things inside Sonar, to help you make the song production you wish to make. Here are a few things...

    Midi sequencer or keyboard

input One last question, How have you been presently getting music recording into Sonar? You said you have been using the basic things in it. Have you already got a keyboard controller? Or have you only been recording audio, singing or guitar playing, into Sonar via an audio input?

    Midi sequencer or keyboard

Frank, Sonar Producer 7 is both an audio recorder AND a MIDI sequencer. You have no need to buy a hardware sequencer. You may buy a MIDI controller keyboard which is necessary to input notes. Why don't you post exactly what type of computer and sound card you already own, so we can make sure...

    Hammond B3 sound in Refugee

What a great idea/site, Chili. Apparently it's not too well known and organ players have not contributed much to it, yet. But I love it. Hopefully some energy will be spent to get the site more known and thereby get more contributions.

Device that can simulate the sound of many people clapping their hands to music...

What you need is a Sampler. There are various hardware samplers out there, and some software versions, too. If you are wishing to use your sampler live on stage, then the answer is not cheap. You need a keyboard as well. Such musical machines are: Kurzweil K2500S, K2600S, or the new...

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

John, I see now that you too, mentioned the rod, or pole, in the plural. But I only see one rod that the key weights get threaded by. Is there a 2nd? I thought there was a single rod threading all 88 key weights. Is it divided in half, thus there are two individual rods? Also, I ordered...

Disassembling FATAR keyboard to clean - Help!

Hey JaydeeMTL, Doing a lot of study, too, on Fatar Keybeds, fixes, replacement parts, etc., and found a guy by the name Techeverlasting who wrote about the subject matter you just did. Read his comment at the bottom of the page. He says something about replacing the weight using a plier, but...

Digital Piano / Synth / Midi... Help!

Aim higher A long and experienced musician's opinion: I see this a lot, that people get interested in music and want to take it up, and often have a nice budget to work with. They start looking at things that, to their uneducated understanding, seems to offer a lot of what they desire and...

    New Sonar coming...

I'm still using Sonar 3, for much the same reasons you just cited. But when v.8 came out, the magazine critics raved about how superior it had become and especially some new MIDI editing tools that they said made work far more efficient. THAT, immediately got my attention. Since I primarily...
