A few riffs in Guitar Rig 4

I imagine it is real hard to play those fingers, keeping that same riff going for minutes. (It is in one take, right?) Man, my fingers would be falling off. So, if it is out of time in places, so be it. I heard the out of time bits too, but didn't think it was an issue. Of course if that was a...

i offer free mastering try it now!

I disagree. Radio stations require very well produced music. They go to Sony or whoever else owns the music and get from them - they don't get their music from home users with a few plugs. Also, Sony etc do not buy their stuff from homeusers but from dudes working in the studios.

    New Song - Music River

Okay Dude, I was sitting here scrolling thru my John Hiatt MP3s. I'm thinking, 'Wow, this is a good one, have to remember it.' You know, like, when I am doing the flooring in my house I will crank it up and, went off somewhere in my mind about that with this (your song) in my ears. Only then...

Pop / Rock Mastered Polished Turd - Want Some?

Yeah, lots of oomph coming out. Kick is pretty awesome actually. It has a lot of depth. No bass guitar though to compete with it?

Similar VSTi to Cakewalk Studio Instruments?

Ooh, that's a bit of a nasty string vi that one. I see it's on sale now for 9.99 from $199. Kontakt sampled libraries and Garritan are very nice for mid range strings.

Who went to school for recording? Who hometaught themselves?

There was this (sort of) hippie commune in NZ and they had a barn which housed a full-on studio. I spent a week there on a course in the eighties. Also gained a bit of stuff from doing things in other studios and fooling with four tracks. But, didn't so much more than that thru lack of money...

Whats a great DAW software for recording?

Cubase is somewhat intuitive so when working with graphical audio tracks mousework is made a little easier - however, the layout is annoying when going from midi to audio and back again - like different windows etc. For example I don't know if there is a way once you open the mixer graphic to...

    What is "the perfect song"?

Wow, that's freaky. I'm going to be searching magazines next time in the hair salon.

Are vocals the most important part of a song?

Vocals are the most human element of the song - the singing usually expresses the most emotion. Take out Karen Carpenter from one of her songs and you are left with nothing more than a kariokial ting-a-ling. On the other hand some instrumentals are more expressive and draw out more of an...

    I need the right computer

I have never heard that before - the whole reason to upgrade is because the old pcs can't cope with the data flow. Maybe mine was just too old - it was about six years old. Ram was about 700 mb or so ... it cut out so much that I had to render to audio the midi tracks before applying any FX...

    I need the right computer

I just got i5, 2.6ghz and DDR 4gb SATA2 a few days ago. Although the processor drive has that number which is slower than even my P4, it is much much much faster. There is no comparison. On the P4 I would do two vst midi tracks then add one FX send and the audio would distort and basically...

the homeless holiday man and the hound dog

I've got a theory that the man was lonely and thought that by unhinging the gate the dogs would come with him (physically or metaphorically) on his lonesome journey. When you are homeless and wandering there will be a longing feeling and you won't know what it is or how to express it. It just...

Do these mixes make my bottom end look fat?

With Grado earphones (a little bit bass emphasizing) on the first song I can hear the kick's verb tail that reaches into the bass tail. But it is so slight in my opinion and audible only really in the quiet bits at the beginning. All else has no 'mud' that I can hear. Your lows hold the songs...

How do these CHORUSES sound so thick and full!? I know you know! haha

This is exactly what I mean. Lots of thick vocal activity.
