It could be a bad connection or headphone insert is bad.. Try some De-Oxit, that will remove any carbon build up and provide a smoother connection..

Pretty much any mixer will do min 16 tracks... You could even use your DAW as a mixer.. Look into Mackie, Soundcraft, Allen & Heath, if you are more on a budget check out Behringer, Alto, Phonic, Alesis..
