    Plug-ins: VST vs DX.

are VST of higher sound quality? Does one format have better selection? Does one use less resource? What does a wrapper do? My software does not support VST, but I could use VST plugs with a VST-DX wrapper right?

    M-Audio under new ownership

Buying and squashing the competition? I'm worried. I really liked M-Audio but fear they will not be continuing as we've known them.

    Greatest Singer of All Time?

When it comes to favorites i don't like to argue 'cause it's too subjective. BUt if we're talking strictly on talent/ability......... Ella and noone else is even close.

    Can Anyone play this?

Recording sounds good, sounds like it was intended to sound good for listening to though rather than studying. For studying you'll want to dry it up a bit. Listen to the recordings Jim Payne has done for Mel Bay and you'll see what I mean. If I had the tab and the time to practice, yeah...

    My guitar sounds suck!

No worries mate, at least you showed me some of the sounds available, and it looks like all the good stuff is VST so it would behoove me to acquire a VST-DX wrapper.

    My guitar sounds suck!

Sonar supports VST, right? Would I be better off upgrading to Sonar? I was planning to eventually, but I've barely begun to learn HomeStudio.

    My guitar sounds suck!

Or I could find a VST-DX wrapper, right? Anyone using SpinAudio's wrapper, either the free "lite" version or the $50 "pro" version?

    effects monitoring

O.K, from what I've learned so far, the guitar should be recorded clean and F/X add during mixing. Fine. The guitarist needs to hear his F/X while he's playing to get the feel right. Fine. Rig up an F/X loop on an aux bus, no problem. O.K, now here's the problem, the F/X I'm adding will be...

    I Bought A Delta 1010...Now What?

Your 1010 has 8 analog ins, I'm using a Yamaha MG12/4 for 6 of my pres and a DMP3 for the other two. Basically the mixer is a cheap way of getting multiple pre amps cheap. In this case 6 channels for $200.

    Zeke is Back :D

wasn't like April or so Zeke was trying to come to grips with being gay and the feelings he had for a member of his favorite band? Or something like that. It takes a bit too long for the song to get going, cut down the Intro, bring the drums in earlier I'm thinking the high end is a bit...

    I Bought A Delta 1010...Now What?

Well my idea of good is different than say, Blue Bear's idea of good, not sure what your's is but the M-Audio DMP3 has served me well.

    My guitar sounds suck!

OK, so I recorded the guitar dry, and now I need to add the effects. I'm using Home Studio XL 2004, aka Sonar lite, and with what's available I'm not happy with the sounds I'm getting. I've combined amp sim with the spectra f/x but it all sounds cheap and cheesy, not enough sustain, if I get...

    what time do you record?

I had to click late at night cuz that was the closest, but it's not late at all. We start around 7 o'clock PM, depending on how it goes we'll work til anytime between 10 PM and 1 AM, but usually around midnight. Mixing is a different story, that could be a rainy afternoon or at 3 AM with a...

Repaired monitor with dented tweeter, OK?

Too many electronic repair shops need to understand, cosmetics are important. Most home recordists ae constantly upgrading gear and cosmetic imperfections affect the resale value. Don't let them get away with cheapening your gear!

To any and all drummers... a story, and some questions...

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. I paid $30/hour because I wanted someone THAT good. I could've paid $12, but I wouldn't have learned much.
